प्रेम ने मुझे सदा निरस्त किया,

यह मेरे जीवन में कभी

स्थिरता का कारण नहीं बना।

बल्कि मेरी भावनाओं में

सैलाब की भांति उमड़ता रहा।

प्रेम मेरे लिए सदा महत्वपूर्ण रहा,

किन्तु इसने मुझे

विरह की अग्नि में निरंतर जलाया।

प्रेम कभी विष नहीं बना,

परन्तु प्रेम ने मुझे

अमृत से भी सदा दूर रखा।

मेरे लिए प्रेम की परिभाषा

सदैव एक ही रही —

विरह की अग्नि में निरंतर जलते रहना।
