Hello everyone, I have played many medias in both campaigns (the same group of players and the same GM meet up at regularly scheduled sessions for a long period of time) and living communities (LCs, similar to D&D west marches, where a large group of GMs pick from a large group of players to run gigs in a shared world), and have found that very few GMs have experience running for medias, and many players seem to have a hard time understanding how to play a media. With the upcoming Edgerunners season 2 having a media in the main cast, I suspect many more people might want to play medias. Here's my advice!

Now that I've read pretty much all the things I have the time or desire to read, I am re-posting it because I put thought and effort into these reviews.

The Hugo Awards finalists have been released! I have only read a couple of these. I have seen some say that this seems like a very safe, "boring" list, with a lot of the nominees coming from the same publisher and from authors who have already been nominated or won Hugos in the past. I nominated the novel The Works of Vermin by Hiron Ennes and am a bit sad it didn't make the cut. I'm not that into following awards in the genre or anything, but I was at last year's Worldcon and plan to go to this year's, where these are voted on.

I will update this post with my thoughts as I read these. I just wanted to have a convenient collection of links for my own

Hello everyone! I just watched the Mayor's Desk video with Rob Barefoot and James Hutt, the mayor of Balance Town, where James Hutt answers community questions.

The last mayor's desk summary can be found here. Lowjack has complete transcripts in a searchable google doc here.

Disclaimer: I have not personally read Solo of Fortune 2045, as none of my games are using it! But I tried to get the important information in this video.

Sorry for the delay! I missed this video because I am not that diligent about checking youtube. I looked today to see if there was a new Mayor's Desk for February 6, 2026, and also saw this one!

Is it worth it? Will I like it?

Project Gorgon is an old-fashioned sandbox MMO made as a labor of love. As a result, some people absolutely love it, and some can't stand it. Generally speaking, players who are intrinsically motivated to figure things out themselves enjoy this game. If you want a game with one clearly laid out linear path and answers readily available for everything, this is not the game for you. The community will likely have every answer, but there's a strong culture of wanting to give people the opportunity to figure things out themselves, and the game was made with the intent that you will explore and discover things your own way. Rob is trying out this new format where the Mayor's Desks will focus on specific topics, so things are easier to find in the future. He puts a screenshot of the question

Types of Downtime Activities

Community Content & Resources

I've seen a few new game masters and players ask if there's some quick reference for the downtime activities players can do. There is not, these are scattered throughout the entire book. So I figured it might be useful to gather them all into one easily-referenced spot. Please let me know if I forgot anything!

Surge (page 149) is a pharmaceutical that can be used to fit more activities in a day, but exactly how you rule this varies from table to table. A common house rule I have seen is one dose of Surge shortens a weeklong activity by 1 day.

And always remember, you the GM can add new things for your players to do in downtime, and players could suggest to the GM if they want to do
