Command Space triggering emoji picker instead of Spotlight in Golden Gate

Using my Ergodox, holding down the command key, and hitting space results in the emoji picker being displayed, instead of spotlight search. The key combo for the emoji picker is control + command + space. I even tried binding a key to just do command space, and the emoji picker comes up instead. This is weird. Any ideas?

Did Golden Gate drop Neo color-matching?

I've got the silver MacBook Neo, updated to Golden Gate, and I'm on the default gold/indigo abstract wallpaper. In Tahoe, Neo owners could color-match the dynamic wallpaper/screen saver (and the accent color) to their laptop's color. Anyone with Indigo, Blush, or Citrus who's updated, do you still have that color-matching option, or did it not make it into Golden Gate?

The keyboard has changed, and now there's symbols instead of words

I have watched so many YouTube videos about the MacBook Neo, but nobody seems to mention the fact that the tab key, the shift keys, as well as the caps lock - no longer feature words but now, for the first time, have symbols instead of words. I have no problem with it (I'm actually in favor of it) but I just think it's weird that... here is this major (minor) change that happened and nobody seems to be pointing it out. Any theories as to why, and why now?
