Moving asparagus?

Sowing & Spring Prep

We have a small amount of asparagus grown from seed last year. It’s in a narrow raised bed and we have some spears coming up now that I understand we shouldn’t pick.

We didn’t think it through when it went in the raised bed… that’s where I want to put tomatoes this year.

Can I move the asparagus? I see online that it doesn’t like being moved so that should be avoided if possible. Or could I continue with the plan for tomatoes and just leave the asparagus where it is?

What’s the least worst option, please?

We have flights London to Mykonos in June and want to travel on to Ios the same day.

Do you think that the ferry options available to book now are likely to be final, or might additional crossings be added in the next few weeks?

Also, returning to Mykonos on the ferry, how much time would you recommend allowing before a flight?

If during an outpatient appointment the consultant wants to admit the patient, can that happen? (Assuming a bed available) Or does the patient have to go via A&E or be booked for a day in the future?

If it makes any difference, my question relates to an IBD patient seeing the gastroenterologist. Thank you.

We have a ‘Marlborough’ mattress from Oak Furniture Land. The label also says ‘Cotswold Beds’. It’s superb and we want another.

Does anyone know if other UK retailers stock this mattress under a different name?

It doesn’t appear to be anything to do with Cotswold Company or Cotswold Bed Company.

I’m helping my elderly Mum with hospital appointments and read the most recent summary letter that got sent to her/her/GP where it says such and such treatment was discussed and explained… but I was there, and that didn’t happen at all.

I also go to Gastro appts with my husband. His most recent letter to the GP said how he reported feeling better with reduced symptoms… but the context of that in the actual consultation was saying he was better compared to when he was hospitalised with campylobacter 10 months ago, his symptoms are full on flare up currently.

Do inaccuracies like these matter? Are patients supposed to flag them up?

Can you remember if there are any gunshots or loud bangs or pyros in the production?

I have emailed the access team at LW theatres to ask, but pending their reply I thought I’d ask here.

One of our party is sensitive to them but can manage if forewarned. I saw the Regent’s Park production but can’t remember that level of detail.

Changes in skin sensation are listed in the leaflet as an uncommon side effect.

In the last 48 hours I have the sensation that my lower leg is wet. It’s SO vivid! At one point I thought I must have wet myself without realising, but however often I check, my leg is bone dry.

Dr Google mentions nerve related causes, but I was wondering if anyone else has got this side effect?

I’m 55F, tapering down, currently on 5mg, started mid October 2024.

Maybe it’s just my generation that typically thinks in ‘bags of sugar’ when visualising weight loss…

I usually weigh and track in pounds because my brain doesn’t think that way and it helps me not obsess over the numbers so much.

Today I changed the settings to kg and realised I have lost exactly 20kg (most of the time with MJ but a few weeks without at the beginning). Anyway, 20kg is the weight of the sacks of chicken food that I buy 😂 so this weight is exactly something that I know from day to day life, which makes it even more meaningful. I struggle to lift the sacks so the realisation I’ve been carrying the equivalent weight, is a real eye-opener!

I just wondered what other people’

Just curious… I’ve always assumed how tall I am, based on measuring my height probably in my 20s, and before that growing up my parents measuring me against the door! I’m in my 50s now and it turns out I’ve shrunk 🤣

I happened to look at my papers from My Future Health where my height was in cm and out of interest converted it to feet and inches. I’m missing about 2 inches!

So my BMI is higher than I’d assumed. I’ve got various BMI records in my NHS app but I don’t remember being measured for any of them. Did they just ask my height?

Anyway, this ramble is just to ask if you measured your actual height when you started on MJ or have you guessed like me? If you’ve guessed it would be i

I feel fortunate because side effects so far have been manageable - some constipation, some burping, dry mouth, feeling the cold more (a welcome change from overheating!)

I went up to 7.5 on Sunday and I need to add dry eyes to the list! I wore contact lenses yesterday (wear my glasses most days) and needed eye drops throughout the day. So again, manageable but not ideal. I hope it will settle down.

Does anyone else get dry eyes?

Thankfully this hasn’t happened to me, but it did occur to me that I should think about what I should do to mitigate the inconvenience if I did lose my phone.

Any words of wisdom from anyone with the benefit of hindsight? Contingency fund in an account that can be accessed online? Or am I massively overthinking this if I just replaced the phone in a few days?

Most of my money is with Chase. They only allow one registered device at a time. I’d have my debit card so could access money, but not transfer between accounts. I tend to keep a small balance in my current account, so might have to rethink that idea…

My husband and I live in my husband’s house (in England). There is a mortgage in his name. I have paid a couple of lump sums off the mortgage in recent years with proceeds of the sale of my property. In a few weeks his fixed mortgage comes to an end and we may pay off the remaining mortgage at this point (both of us contributing).

The plan is to add me to the deeds of the house. Presumably we need a solicitor for that? What’s the process and timescale ? We will either share it 50/50 (Husband’s opinion) or agree some other share slightly in his favour (reflects more accurately who has contributed more).

I don’t own any other property. We both have non-dependant children. If we don’t pa
