Alright, so I'm a little fed up with the fact that this sub will downvote and reply sarcastically and/or rudely to almost any Malazan recommendation anywhere unless the poster specifically describes exactly why they are recommending it or asks to please not be downvoted, regardless of whether or not it fits the recommendation.

I understand that it became a meme around the time when The Crippled God was published, but that was 9 years ago. So I ask you all, why does Malazan get this treatment here? I don't see this happening with other authors like Joe Abercrombie or (most of the time) Sanderson, or Ursula K. Le Guin or Robert Jordan and many, many others.

So what do you guys think the size of the average dragon is from tip to tail? I'm somewhat confused as descriptions of them vary from book to book and am trying to imagine them properly. Are there any definitive descriptions you guys have found?

PS: Also, Yedan Derryg is the most badass character in fiction, killing multiple Soletaken dragons and several Hounds of Light.

I'm wondering what the difference between Unta and Malaz city is. It shows Mock's Hold on the map of Malaz City, but I remember in the prologue of GotM Mock's Hold being in Unta, and I think Kalam went to Unta in DG, which had Mock's Hold in it. Am I misremembering or is there something I'm not getting?

I just started HoC on my first read-through and loving it, but I have one minor complaint that keeps bugging me: I feel like armour in this series is a little inconsistent.

One moment characters like Trotts and Itkovian are deflecting blows off their armour, the next characters are slashing through chainmail and splitting iron helms with axes. I feel like this sometimes just makes the armour feel for show, rather than something anyone would want to wear.

Sometimes, yes, certain kinds of mail can be cut through (like butted mail), but it happens a little too often in Malazan for my liking.

So, does keep happening? Because if it does I will accept it, but I really want the armour to start w

I'm having lots of trouble beating other players. I've improved a lot since I started the game, but it still seems like every time I try to make an attack, be it light or heavy, my opponent always gets in a combo and KO's me within the minute. I know how to do combos, but not for all characters.

Is there any way to improve besides just grinding?

I'm on my reread, currently on The Shadow Rising, and just read this quote about Elayne and Egwene:

The two younger women gaped at her, one dark, the other fair, yet a near mirror image of astonishment.

It doesn't seem likely that it was referring to hair colour like the quote in The Eye of the World. What do you think? I think it would make sense for the Emond's Fielder's to have dark skin.

PS: This is not about the TV show casting. Just a passage I picked up because I saw some other people discussing it online.

I figured out that Talmanes is the true Dragon Reborn. Using the prophecies, I figured out exactly how:

And it shall come to pass that what men made shall be shattered,
and the Shadow shall lie across the Pattern of the Age,
and the Dark One shall once more lay his hand upon the world of man.
Women shall weep and men quail as the nations of the earth are rent like rotting cloth.
Neither shall anything stand or abide...

This first one is pretty obvious. Everything in it already happens.

The Shadow shall rise across the world, and darken every land, even to the smallest corner, and there shall be neither Light nor safety.
And he who shall be born of the Dawn, bor

While I see that most people here like the Sanderson books, I can't help but feel that there is way too much nitpicking and tearing apart the books, trying out find every flaw in them and saying "Jordan wouldn't have done that, that's bad characterization, Sanderson mad a mistake here, this person wouldn't have said that, etc."

Sanderson was tasked with an almost impossible job and he pulled it off spectacularly. While it's true, he didn't get all of the characters voices right, his writing isn't as nuanced as Jordan's (even though his writing is nuanced, just not to the same degree), his writing has more of a tell instead of show feel to it that makes it more straightforward and less descr

Without saying any obvious theories (i.e Lan was resurrected by Rand, Nakomi is an agent of the Creator, Rand has "seen the matrix", X is hero of the Horn because Y, Bela is the Creator), what are some crazy and/or new theories you people have/had upon completion of A Memory of Light?

Mine is that when Dragonmount and Shayol Ghul came close to each other, the world actually was crumpling between them like it vaguely says in the book.
