Hi,

I remember a few years finding an incredibly detailed blog/website that made the argument there had always been a Germanic/Old English speaking community in the east / parts of England pre the Anglo-Saxon period. A lot of etymological arguments were made using place names for example. I cannot for the life of me find it. Does anyone know where I could find it?

Hi,

I am interested in the culture / history / military use of elephants throughout the Indian subcontinent. Could anyone point me in the right direction for which books to read?

The time period itself doesn't really matter, I am just interested in any historical content about how the use of elephants has had an impact in the Indian subcontinent / SEA history.

Been playing HOL more. Drives me nuts that you can't make symmetrical beautiful farms like when you are the English. The fact they are 3x3 makes it so awkward, please make it 2x2 or 4x4!

I am struggling to decide which faction to play out of the two of them.

I find English are incredibly straightforward. You have a king and abbey that heals everything. It's very simple and quick to set your farms up. The Wynguard Palace units give you that extra oomph in Imperial.

However, HOL have some really cool upgrades. Livery to make your knights great at killing heavy units. Handgunners in Castle age. The aesthetics of their men at arms and their daggers are great too.

What do people think about these two factions? What are their strengths and weaknesses? Which do people think are more fun etc? I am just curious to know what other people think.

I spend most of my time in game manually moving cavalry behind my infantry and archers. I wish when you right click dragged / move grouped units cavalry could sit at the back rather than front. I've lost horsemen far too many times because I was a few seconds late looking at the fight. I think it should be a toggle setting for where you want the units to go. I.e. you could set archers at the front, infantry behind them and cavalry at the back etc.

Hi,

I had the idea of playing an ffa with another friend with 2 ai, so a 4v4 ffa. Is there anyway of making it anonymous though, so we don't know who is AI or not? The problem is you have to invite your friend to the lobby / you will see their faction on the load screen so I am not sure how to get around that. Any ideas?

A lone Tower Elephant from Delhi attacked my keep and then died. I didn't have the music sound on. After its initial loud trumpet 'death' sound it then makes this really sad quiet whimper.

That's it. I can't kill elephant units anymore...it's too damn sad.

What is better for getting more resources quicker?

  1. Get all the feudal economy resources first and then imperial officials?

  2. Get imperial officials working on a lumber camp, mining camp, mill etc?

I am trying to practice China and I don't know what is more efficient for getting resources. Does anyone know? Thank you.

I have enjoyed unlocking content from the mastery system but I do wish a few things were different.

  1. There needs to be masteries added for the new variatn civs.
  2. Get rid of the 'win x games' stages, they're just fluff and a bit lazy.
  3. There needs to be specific game conditions to unlock them. You can currntly unlock all the masteries even when you set a map to unlimited resources. The quickest way to get the 'win 10 games' mastery is to set yourself up on a small map with unlimited resources against an easy AI. It means there is no standardised difficulty in which these masteries can be gained.
  4. Why can't you unlock multiple masteries in the same game? It feels very arbitr

For Sengoku Daimyo you can upgrade Yari Cavalry to have a large bonus against cavalry. I just wondered if this only makes them better at fighting other light cavalry, or can they actually stand up to heavy cavalry?
