Last weekend, we experimented with a new “event”, a standalone request post free weekend. There was lots of great discussion, games, and chatting. We’d like to get your thoughts on how often to repeat.

The mods have discussed and weekly is not feasible due to how manual it is. We also don’t want to burn everyone out on discussion by doing it too often.

We will be instituting a weekend discussion megathread, likely open on Friday and pinned through the weekend. We all had a great time with a free form chat space. You can expect this to move into regular rotation starting next weekend.

So… what did you think? Should we do it again? What went well, what could be improved, and what just did

# Request Free Weekend - Trial Event

One of the suggestions from recent discussions on how to get us talking about books more, was to have a "request free weekend." The purpose of this event is to increase focus on things that get us talking about books - discussion posts, fun and games, and detailed book reviews. We're going to test it this weekend and see how it goes!

##How It Works

* **When:** Saturday - Sunday (mod time zone)

* **What:** All posts are allowed except standalone request posts, which will be removed

##Q&A

* **How will I know the event is live?** We will pin a "Blackout - No Requests" post to the sub highlights. As long as that message is

Rules Update: Post Frequency

Update to Rules on Post Frequency

We all heard last week that the subreddit wants more discussion, and the mod team is in full support. In order to help more diverse voices be heard in the community, and also to reduce over posting of similar tropes, themes or discussions by any one user - we are expanding and simplifying our post frequency rules. Previously this applied only to book requests, but going forward we will have one set of rules for all posts in scope.

##New Frequency Limits

  • 1 request post per user per day
  • 2 requests per user per week
  • no more than 1 post every 3 days

Post Types In Scope

Frequency rules apply to any post type and are not separated by type. If you p

We have had a lot of posts regarding plagiarism and AI recently, and are going to be making the following changes in our moderation practices going forward. This isn't a rule change! Just a difference in moderation.

What is changing: Going forward, any posts that include accusations or discussions of plagiarism or AI use by a specific author (even if the author is unnamed) will be put in a moderation queue and reviewed by mods before the post is approved.

Why it matters: Our subreddit rules are very clear - any posts or comments saying that an author has plagiarized content or uses AI must be substantiated with evidence. In order to validate this evidence, the mod team sometimes

**What is this thread for?**

The TV adaptation of Heated Rivalry is here! You're excited, we're excited. This is already generating a lot of discussion in the sub. We're containing that excitement here, so those less excited (or not at all excited, no shame!) don't have to wade through a dozen HR posts every time they visit.

All posts about Heated Rivalry must be made in this thread. This includes all fanart posts, images/videos, crossposts/links to external sites, recommendations for similar books or for similar characters. Standalone posts will be removed and you will be redirected to post here instead.

**But what if you want more, you want to make posts, and you wan

(not subreddit affiliated) Sharing a queer book conference / event scheduled for June 2026 in Moline, Illinois. Several authors beloved by the subreddit will be in attendance, including KM Neuhold, Daniel May, Piper Scott, Odessa Hywell, Chloe Archer, Cora Rose, and many others.

Queer in the Middle

I haven't attended this event before, but did go to a similar one a few years ago and it was a blast.

We know schips love attention, and have zero shame in how they try to get it from you. What's the funniest or silliest way your pup tries to get your attention?

Our current schip, Daria, grabs her toy, walks along the back of the couch next to where you are sitting, and then slides down your chest like she's on a waterslide until she's in your lap. Then drops the ball on your hand. This is when she wants attention and/or wants to play indoor fetch. She has excellent timing and really loves doing this when we're drinking our morning coffee 😂

So, I have managed through grinding and sheer force of will to make it to Sadistic Difficulty, IT Hungers without doing any manual attacks at all. I'm now confronted with the IT Hungers titan, which the wiki says "auto is basically not even feasible" to kill, and have to learn manual for the first time. What is the best move sequence to beat this annoying titan? Is Glop really necessary? (I can get it, it was just annoying to farm and waste because I know nothing about moves in manual attack).

I know nothing about manual attacks but have all moves except for the last two (and could get that Oh Shit move in Wishes if I need to).

Update to Rules on Promotional Content and Author Self Promotion

As this subreddit has grown, we have had to adjust the rules, and promotional content is one area where we’ve been seeing an increase in activity. We have updated our subreddit rules to make things more clear, and keep this subreddit a reader focused space. We have previously removed this type of content under the mod discretion umbrella, but felt we owed it to readers and authors to make our guidelines explicit and clearer.

Self Promotion - not just authors

The definition of self promotion now includes any type of self promotion, or promotion for an author or team where you have an interest in the work. This include

I feel like this is a silly question but... how do y'all pick up individual isopods? For culling, moving to another container, etc. I have dairy cows and powder oranges. The dairy cows I feel I can grab with my fingers when they're big. But I do not want do even try with the oranges as I'm worried I'll crush them. Chopsticks? Tiny long handled spoon? Curious to hear everyone's methods!

I hope this is allowed! Out of all of the skin care groups I'm part of, I feel like y'all would be best qualified to know this. I've super interested in trying a growth factor serum but have a fairly high risk of skin cancer - have had two melanoma in situ and lots of problematic moles removed. Does anyone know of any work that's been done for this group on safety? I saw a post that they weren't safe for this group, but I don't know if it's just fear mongering. I do see a derm every 6months, so if there was a weird growth it would be caught fairly quickly.
