Had a member get their account hacked a few weeks ago. They’ve kind of given up on it but support was asking for details that they wouldn’t be able to get with their account compromised.

Does anyone know of any ways to get around this or if they ask for your account number and you don’t have it saved locally are you SOL?

Ever since I started playing it I've wondered if the data generated would be a valid pile sorting exercise? Obviously it's a curated list with an end goal of sorting them "correctly" but I don't really have an avenue to ask.

I figured someone here might have had this discussion in a course or just more familiar with ethnographic methods than I am.

I recently finally got myself a copy of Feder's Frauds, Myths, and Mysteries it's something I've wanted to get for a couple years now.

After thumbing through the chapter heads and reading a few of the section's that had a line that caught my attention, I can't believe I waited. It's probably hindsight bias since I know how to read it, and it has some good advice with it's basis in skeptical thinking which I learned in Grad School.

I was wondering though, anyone else have any books you read after school, or randomly that you would recommend for the same type of feeling?

Pronman posted an article about what prospects might get traded this year. The Devils have a lot of guys on his list and I was curious how y'all feel about these guys getting traded. Obviously if the return is worth it who cares but some of them feel like it's too early to give up on.

Here's our guys and their rankings on his list:

Shakir Mukhamadullin (#5)

Alexander Holtz (#7)

Our draft pick, because he thinks the potential draft class is better (likely strong middle-six or second-pairing defense) for some teams immediately adding a top 20 prospect to their system.

Nolan Foote (#7)

Arseni Gritsyuk (#16)

Honorable mentions in alphabetical order...

Both archaeology and anthropology. I'm not as active and didn't go into the field like I thought I would but I like reading about methods and seeing how I can apply them to my current professional life. I've always been more theory minded and I'd love to supplement that with more methodological approaches.

I've been looking at getting the newest copy of Bernard's Research Methods in Anthropology (6th Edition, I have the 4th) and I have a lab methods book for archaeology. I'm looking for decent articles about business applications, practical ethnography, anything involving materiality. I'd prefer to spend no money, but if anyone has any good suggestions I'm open to them.

I work in insurance. I enjoy most of the work but the industry is very against my values. Which sucks because the trade groups actively lobby against things I support meanwhile the benefits of joining them are too great to ignore.

For instance they actively lobby against any sort of universal healthcare. They use the industry line of we can tailor policies to individuals and stop you from paying for coverage you don't need. The whole idea of the ACA putting everyone in a Cadillac when they might need a Chevy or a Jeep. Recently they've come out against a lot of the proposed federal privacy legislation that would restrict what data companies collect since it would impact actuaries. Washingt

So I’m more curious than anything. I work in a small family agency. We have one client who loves cars and has started buying and selling them as investments. His previous higher priced car was a Porsche that sold for like $130,000. He’s getting a Lamborghini that costs almost $300,000.

Obviously our regular markets don’t want it as they are used to cars half that much as their ‘expensive’ options. Our collectors market doesn’t want it without conditions (mostly another collector auto) and our E&S market doesn’t really have a personal auto market either.

Just curious what/if anyones had experience has been with trying to insure a car like this. People obviously buy the car where the h

Just some notes on it.

Daws is staying up here. Not sure when he'll be sent to Utica for the playoffs but all his comments were about how he wants him to practice at the NHL level. Doesn't discourage the AHL but wants him to learn from Hammond. Even says that Blackwood can learn and get pushed too.

Blackwood should be back at some point this year.

Holtz might get called up for a few games but he likes what he's doing down there for now.

Subban's contract and lack of want is why he's still here.

Severson wasn't getting the same level of interest that Coleman got when asked about it "difference was I got calls about Blake"

Mukh situation is what it is. He's under contract which is

I feel I'm asking this oddly but I'm looking for moderates, right wingers, neolibs, and other groups opinions' on what do you actually like, agree with, or just think that the criticism goes off the rails when it's brought up?

I feel like there's always posts asking what 'conservative' ideas do we like, or what do you hate about the Left... I'm kind of curious to know the opposite.

Question for P&C agents

Leads (Marketing)

I work mostly in NJ with family at a small independent agency. We've had some talks over the years about leads, advertising, etc.

Does anyone have an experience, tips, lessons learned on generating leads with little to no budget? I'm trying to look for cheap analytic methods to get even just a handful more quotes a month.

When I say analytics I mean doing simple things like generating average savings numbers to advertise how much we save clients, just something to catch peoples eye rather than doing nothing and hoping that word of mouth and Google searching brings us business.

I know we've had people ask us to get on LinkedIn but none of this stuff seemed worth it long term. Just wonder

For context:

I'm a hockey fan, there was an issue with a minor league hockey team and a 'racist' taunt. I say it like that because even though at the time it was treated as racist, the news coming out afterwards is enough to cast strong doubt on the intentions of the offending player. However the offending player was cut from his team, branded a racist online, and suspended indefinitely (though eligible to come back after dealing with sensitivity training).

Thing is now all I'm seeing is post after post trying to exonerate the offender, people saying intent is what matters rather than action (due to the league suspension being based on how it made a player feel, and not the intent of th

I'm very confused. I started my Stash account back in late-April, early-May. I set my Smart Portfolio to high risk and I've been putting small amounts into it weekly. It's paid dividends and I have the reinvest option turned on.

This next part is what is confusing me. After today all 4 of the ETF's in my Smart Portfolio are negative. Yet it's still saying that I have a small (about 1.5%) growth even though that account is actually down about $10 as of 20 minutes ago. It's showing a loss on the invested v. current value breakdown tab.

Do dividends reinvested not get tallied to your principal amount? As in does it only count money that I've actually invested, or is this just a glitch? I've
