sometimes, my tech skill gets all wonky because my left thumb is inconsistent. for instance, i'll start doing short poopy waveshines and wavelands instead of long beautiful sexy ones
any tips&tricks for better consistency?
I'm hosting a Melee/Brawl tournament in a few weeks and I'm looking for tips to make sure it goes smoothly. I'm expecting anywhere from 25 to 50 people. I'll be running both the Melee and Brawl brackets simultaneously. I'm using TioPro to create the brackets.
How many setups should I aim for? Any advice for managing two brackets at once?
Kim Hakkyu, the lead developer of RO1, is currently working on a new MMO called Tree of Savior. It's being touted as the true spiritual successor to Ragnarok Online, so if you didn't like the direction Gravity took with RO2, you should definitely stay up-to-date on this!

I'm closely following the development of Tree of Savior (aka Project R1), so I'll be posting updates as they come. This is being touted as a spiritual successor to Ragnarok Online, so I hope you're as excited as I am!

Since this thread has some misinformation in it, I figured I'd put together a small guide on input lag. Melee It On Me did a nice segment on the subject, which can be found here.
Intro
The Wii U is an HD console. This means the competitive SSB4 scene will be migrating toward HD monitors, much like the FGC has. This brings forth a new problem: input lag. Every HD display in existence has input lag. This includes both PC monitors and TVs.
Q: What is input lag? How will it affect SSB4?
I main Fox, and I've noticed that while he's my most dominant character, he's also my least consistent. I usually start off fine for the first 5-6 games or so, and after a while, I start missing technical stuff (shffl arials on shield, proper spacing, baiting, etc.) without realizing it. The amount of effort required to play him makes it hard for me to maintain pressure on my opponent more than 3-5 games in a row.
Does anyone have experience with this sort of inconsistency? Does it get better over time? I've been maining Fox for the last 4 months and I still don't have the stamina for very long sessions.
I've read on smashboards/allisbrawl that some players remove the springs from their GameCube controller's L/R shoulder buttons (for example: link)
Tournament legality aside, has anyone tried it out, and how does it affect gameplay? Would it be useful for Melee?
I've been told that trimming your moustache along the upper lip increases thickness over time, as the top hairs will "catch up" to the lip line, giving a fuller look.
However, I've also read that letting the moustache grow is the best way to grow a handlebar. Now I'm kind of torn.
Thoughts/tips?
Hi r/WATMM. I've been having songwriting difficulties lately and I'm hoping to get some advice.
Here's what happens. I get a song idea and I record it. A week later, I start growing tired of the song. I'll hear a new song from a different band (in a different style) and try to re-formulate my original song in this new style/genre. This has happened a few times already with one song in particular.
Is this normal? Is it a sign of improvement, or am I just playing musical chairs, metaphorically speaking? Have any of you had to experiment with many styles before finding the right one?
