People are recreating the basic format in all different mediums: one example. The major elements would seem to be the main character at the bottom, barriers to the left and right, and a column of three diamonds going straight up.

It's SOMETHING from a video game I'm 99% sure; most likely either Celeste or Deltarune Chapter 2b. I just can't seem to track down the originating post, which I also suspect was on reddit.

Many people are familiar with the idea in software development that adding more people to a project makes it go slower, not faster, with multiple books upon the the matter and extensive debates about whether large projects are more like a vast bazaar or like building a cathedral one brick at a time.

Somewhere in my endless hunt for the dopamine (I likely came across the story in a youtube video but it might have been an article or blog post) I heard the following story, which I'll try to retell.

A company had two locations in different cities; one was large and the other much smaller. Through some miscommunication, both branches began developing a certain software project independently

About a year ago I first learned about the existence of molten-salt batteries (Zebra, Ambri) and came to the conclusion that while they had very exciting upsides, an actual cell breach would almost certainly result in an explosion, as the cathode and anode flow away together without the salt layer separating them.

But, if you had it in space, on a moon-size scale, then there's nothing to breach, and no gravity except its own to make it want to flow away anywhere else. I know, it's a completely mad idea (like, where would you even get that much bismuth) but I'm wondering whether it would even be plausible to keep your planet-sized metal ba

I'm using a tablet (Huion WH1409), and Gimp 2.10.32. Using the Brush tool, the pressure dynamics are just set to modify the size.

When I use Shift to draw straight lines, they often shrink out to nothing immediately, stay gone for a while, and then come back progressively the same way (when I continue to shift-click more straight line segments) and the cycle slowly repeats. However, doing the same thing with the mouse on the same brush settings gives me a constant, bold result.

I would expect this has something to do with the Fade Length in the Dynamics Options, but I don't want a fade length at all and can't see how to turn that explicitly off. Setting it to something like 0px or 1px al

I've put in about 4 hours so far and I'm a bit torn on Hydroneer. On one hand there's certainly something immersive and pure about handing one item at a time, except at at the outset of the game the fundamental gameplay loop required to process any dirt requires a HUGE amount of switching items, and it just feels uncomfortable.

That discomfort drives you to upgrade, but the upgrades are expensive and not adequately explained to let you understand (without owning one) how they work, so working out your upgrade path is very difficult and likely to involve a lot of useless purchases (or at least purchases that won't be useful to you until much later). It's quite discouraging to blow the procee

From where I'm standing, Favored Enemy is too "all or nothing". It's a bonus that comes and goes under very specific circumstances, and the players have very little input on whether they will be able to make use of them outside of being able to choose WHAT they are going to fight, or getting some cooperation from the DM. It's bland. Many implementations are a dissociated mechanic. Possibly worst of all, because the benefits are so inconsistent, you can't make it a main feature of the Ranger, because that gives you extremely large circumstantial power swings, throwing a wrench into the delicate calculations of how much force to commit to a given encounter. So it's bad.

There's an exception w

"Nightmare Haunting (1/Day): While on the Ethereal Plane, the hag magically touches a sleeping humanoid on The Material Plane. A Protection from Evil and Good spell cast on the target prevents this contact, as does a Magic Circle. As long as the contact persists, the target has dreadful visions. If these visions last for at least 1 hour, the target gains no benefit from its rest, and its hit point maximum is reduced by 5 (1d10)...."

Contrast and compare with the wording for long rests: "A character can’t benefit from more than one long rest in a 24-hour period, and a character must have at least 1 hit point at the start of the rest to gain its benefits."

So let's say that the Sewn Sist

Please forgive the large number of words. I am not great at precisely and concisely conveying mathematical concepts because I might use the wrong words for things.

This is a picture of a beholder. This is the conventional ingame stats of a regular beholder, for the 5th edition of D&D. The important rules and goals will now be covered:

  • The beholder and a single enemy are in combat.
  • Beholders create a cone (with themselves at the apex). The height of this cone is 150 feet, and the diameter of the base is 150 feet.
  • The beholder wants to keep their enemy inside th
