Hello sub, i'm interested in buying an engagement ring within the next couple of weeks and would like some suggestions of places to look, and also information on how to not get ripped off.

I've to the jewelry building in Osh bazaar so i know about that one, although i don't know if i trust the quality because i already bought a gold bracelet there where the links starter to fall off after a few weeks.

I've also heard about Altyn (i think thats what it's called), next to tsum, but havent gone yet.

Moved to Bishkek..

Question | Суроо

I am a US national and I came to Bishkek in June for tourism, met a girl and have been living here since on a tourist visa.

So far i've had to leave and re-enter the border every two months in order to refresh my tourist visa, but I can't imagine that's a viable solution long term (although the $8 bus ticket to Almaty comes in handy).

So just a few general questions to whoever knows:

  • How long can i keep refreshing my tourist visa this way? Is there a limit or will there be an issue at some point?

  • Is there some visa that would allow me to stay here longer term without having to exit every two months? I currently remotely for a US company, so a work visa would probably not be needed.

I recently moved to Tashkent and am renting an apartment. I have a friend that is coming to visit for a couple of weeks (a kyrgyz national), and I am wondering if the residence registration thing still a valid thing that I would need to do for them?

The issue is that I am renting, and as far as I understand only the owners of the apartment can do the registering. I don't really want to ask them to register my friend because I feel like it shouldn't be any of their business when I have guests over. Another reason is that when I rented this place the owners seemed very concerned about me "bringing over prostitutes", and "bringing different girls to the apartment every day", and since this fri

So I was a Hagwon teacher in Korea last year, and during my time there I compiled a list of interesting things that I noticed about the culture while living there.

Keep in mind these are from the perspective of an American, are for comedic purposes and by no means intended to be racist. And if you have more, please share!

  • Markets and grocery stores don't sell bread or cheese

  • Coffee shop every 10 feet

  • Elevators "close door" button actually works

  • National Geographic is a popular clothing brand

  • Most every kid and and an alarming amount of adults wear CROCS. Even to work.

  • The bathroom+shower combo

  • Weird affinity towards Spam

  • Cutting meat with scissors

  • "Workin

Are you guys able to withdraw using the bitcoin methods? I am able to get money to my crypto wallet, i sell the bitcoin to dollars, but then I am unable to transfer the funds to my back account using an ACH transfer. I've tried a couple of different wallets (blockchain.com and bitcoin.com) and they both tell me that withdraws are "temporarily" anavailable, but it's been the same for weeks.

What's the easiest way to get the money into my bank account?

So I like to bet on sports here and there, have been for a while. Mostly I bet on tennis as it's the sport I know best.

It occurred to me the other night that given the amount of stats available tennis, and it's nature being a 1vs1 sport, that a trained AI model could be something worth doing in order to get a competitive edge over other bettors, at least in the short term before other people catch on and realize the potential.

What I can contribute: years of betting experience, access to data, and deep inside knowledge of the tennis world and player psychology, something that AI would be less effective in.

What I need: someone to help build an AI model with the data provided.

I am a US national moving to Tashkent for work. My parents were born in Uzbekistan moved to the US in the 90's. I talked to some family recently and they've warned me that Uzbekistan is a Muslim country because of that it would be difficult to integrate and date there for a non-Muslim.

My question is this: how religious are the people there really? specifically the 20-30 somethings. Would it be difficult to date if you are not a Muslim? Are they very conservative?

I also speak fluent Russian, if that helps any.

School in Uzbekistan is saying that because there are one hour gaps in between classes that it doesn't count as a working hour. "You don't have to stay if there's no clases". It's a 9 hour work day 11 to 8, six days a week INCLUDING SATURDAYS. Insane.

So I just got a bill in the mail, either gas or electric not sure, for over 270,000 won for the last month.

Couple of questions here. First, is this normal winter pricing? My last month was 130,000 and it just jumped double and I haven't changed anything as far as my usage.

Second is, do you pay for your apartment bills yourself or does your hagwon take care of it? So far my hagwon has been paying for it and then deducting it from my pay. The confusing thing is though that they haven't been doing it lately, or at least they aren't charging me the full amount from my pay. It's a bit confusing and I don't really want to bring it up with my hagwon in case they realize something and start ch
