Hello I’m not completely sure if this post is right but anyway, I have the grade 11 fermat contest happening this Wednesday and am curious about strategies you guys may have. My teacher said that if you can’t do a question, you should skip it and that you should complete all of part A, most of part B, and one or two from part C. What strategy(s) do you have?

I know my question doesn’t really make a lot of sense. What I’m asking is, when you’re doing whatever, how do you get that initial idea to a song? For example, I usually start with a slap bass riff that’s for an intro and then I figure out the rest as I go. While someone else might start with a chorus or a verse and build it around there.
I'm trying to increase my playing speed so I can do cooler things in general. Any tips, exercises, etc are appreciated!
When I'm learning a tough song, I find it easier to commit to memory because I'm thinking a lot harder about what notes and how I'm playing (fingering, micro-adjusting, etc) but when I'm learning a super easy bass line, something like Feel Good Inc or Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra I just find it really hard to commit the entire bass line to memory. I have an upcoming performance where I'm playing Fly Me to the Moon + other songs and I can play it easily by reading the tabs. I just can't commit the bass line to memory. Any tips are appreciated.
I've been playing bass for a little while now (8-9 months lost track) and I've noticed that only my fretting hand or left hand has calluses but my right-hand doesn't. Does anyone else have this same thing or is it just me?
I’ll go first, my favourite is the intro slap bass riff from Study Me by Zutomayo and that one slap bass riff from red hot chilly peppers (you know what I’m talking about).
So I'm trying to play the bass solo from the song Study Me by Zutomayo (I'll put the bass tab at the end of the post as well as where the solo is exactly if anyone is curious) and what's holding me back right now is not remembering the notes, it's keeping up with the tempo. I know I could always play the song slowly and then go faster, what I'm asking is about exercises to do to increase my speed. I appreciate all the help!

the solo is from bars 50-58
So I have a math competition tomorrow and the math problems aren't necessarily conceptual so you don't need to memorize how to do some niche part of the grade 11 curriculum for example. The questions are based on Math problem-solving skills if that makes sense. What I'm curious about is what you'd do if you were trying to solve one of these Math Problem-solving problems (wordy I know) in a competition. Thank you!
I want to learn how to play Jazz on bass because I feel like I don't understand it that well. The only thing I know is a walking bass line is very popular and Jazz in general can have a pretty complex rhythm. Basically, I don't know what I don't know which is very bad. I want to learn by gaining experience alongside just general knowledge so if any of you know any good Jazz songs with nice bass lines I would really appreciate it!
I've seen ads from Scott's bass lessons that "to have 2025 start well" (I'm paraphrasing) he's giving away 5 bass guitars. I get that there's a slim chance of winning because it's all chance but it sounds too good to be true and if I've learned anything in my lifetime it's that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Does anyone know if this is a scam of some sort? I don't mean this with any malicious intent, I don't want to waste my time and I haven't seen any other posts about this when I searched online. Thanks.
Since major and minor shapes exist, I've just been applying the major and minor shapes to any jams I've been to or when creating a bass line. I only know that I have to learn arpeggio but I don't know what those are yet. I know that having them memorized can be helpful but is it worth spending a lot of time memorizing the individual notes in a key is basically what I'm asking.
As said in the title, my Dad and I will go to Universal Studios sometime soon. But I don't know what rides are worth my time or which are popular. I could use some help with recommendations of what to best spend our time on.
If it helps, we're getting the express pass for every ride so we should have more time to do different rides. We're getting a 2-day with a bonus 2-day pass and we're doing 3 parks. Basically, 4 days to do Universal Studio's, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay with the last day spent on our favorite.
Thanks in advance.
