I’m a long-time Apple Watch wearer (I think series 3 was my first), with a ridiculously massive collection of bands. I’ve wanted an Ultra since they first came out, but as a woman with a smallish wrist (braided solo size 4), I haven’t pulled the trigger until yesterday, and it’s being delivered tomorrow!

Pro list: 1. BATTERY LIFE (I’m a Masters swimmer and also have an archery range in my backyard, and my series 10 has been running out of battery before bedtime); 2. New heart rate features common to Ultra 4 and the 12; 3. A little extra screen for my terrible eyesight; 4. I do hike/camp, and the connectivity features sound nice.

Con list: 1. How huge is this thing going to be?

Hi guys-- tell me if what I did is fine or being a jerk, please. I just learned butterfly a month ago, and I like to do some (like 8 50s that are fly/back-- I don't feel ready for 50s of pure fly) every time I get in the pool because I REALLY need to build that strength. I'm a second season Masters swimmer, and I want to be able to do the 100 IM at next year's state championships.

So I had a lady get into my lane right before I was about to do this (an older lady who is about half my speed-- I'm NOT saying I'm fast, just explaining how this worked), and what I figured out I could do... bc my arm span is 6'1", so I need the whole lane for fly... is I would wait until right before (maybe tw

You guys responded really positively to my post about my first Masters meet in September, so I thought I'd give you a little report on my first state meet! Overall, amazing experience, but also there was also the most embarrassing thing of my whole life, I think?

Highs:

  1. I love my team so much, and this was my first meet with the huge group of us together. The camaraderie, cheering each other on, helped me feel not nearly as small and intimidated as I did at the meet I went to by myself this season. It was FUN!
  2. Huge time drop in my 50 breast. I went 5 seconds under my seed time (the only competition time I have from a yards pool) and 2 seconds under my time trial from last week. (I am

This is my first season as a Masters swimmer, and my state meet is in two weeks. In meets this season I've done 50 free, 50 breast, 100 breast. I'm also registered for 200 breast in the state meet. I really want to do it because I'm on a very team-oriented team, and if I just finish the 200 breast, I should get a lot of points-- last year there was only one person in my age group in the 200 breast.

I have exercise-induced asthma and get a little panicky when I start to feel short of breath. Most of the time in practice if I'm doing more than 100, I do 25 free/25breast alternating because for some reason it seems easier to me. (but it's weird bc breast stroke is definitely my best strok

Ramblings of a person obsessed with nail wraps and swimming...

I started wearing wraps about 5 months ago, mostly bc my nails were so crappy with breaking and peeling from all the time in the water. Basically, I wanted a protective layer on them. I started with Dashing Diva Gloss and have also done Lily and Fox. I could get them to last through about three workouts with no top coat and about 5 with Sally Hansens Hard as Nails as a base and top. Then about a month ago I got DD One Gel and started using that as a top coat, and it was a real game changer-- with no base coat and One Gel on top, I could get them to last a full two weeks. But there would still be the occasional bit of breakage

Hi guys, I took/passed the Georgia bar in 2010, but I didn't practice for enough years to be eligible to waive into Michigan where I live now. I've been working as an LSAT/law school tutor (especially contracts and con law), and even occasionally bar exam tutor (focusing more on the writing and on the subjects I feel best about) for almost ten years now.

Obviously there is a LOT of material on the bar exam, including some subjects that I never really took in law school and just learned for the bar exam the first time around. So since I'm thinking about taking the Michigan bar this coming July, I think it would make sense to do a full-on bar prep course. I'm actually worried a lot less

Acrylics for swimmer?

Discussion/Question

Hi guys—I know nothing about acrylics and In honestly wouldn’t want anything fancy. But I spend about 5 to 6 hours a week swimming laps, and my nails are absolutely trashed. They are peeling in layers at the tips and just getting worse and worse. I thought maybe I should get acrylics? Or maybe gel polish?

Something that will stop them from peeling shorter and shorter and look decent. Just a fun color but nothing terribly exciting in terms of design or length. Looking for advice from people who know about nails!
