I raced a road 5k this morning and was disappointed to run a good 30+ seconds slower than I was expecting given my training (I've been running for 20 years so I have a lot of data on workouts/races). Legs felt great, HR was fine, but I was struggling to get enough oxygen. My sinuses were definitely closed up so I was completely mouth breathing. This happens to me from time to time. I took a Claritin, but it didn't help at all today and where I live things are blooming like crazy.

Does anybody else experience similar issues? Does anything work for you? Or should I just keep trying different allergy meds?

Was hoping for your recommendations for trips around the Mediterranean and Europe.

Recently took a tour with Odysseys Unlimited and while it was excellent, the pace was slower than I would've liked. It was mostly retired couples and while I enjoyed their company you can only go as fast and as far as the slowest person. I want to find a tour company that still provides 4 or 5 star accomodations but is geared to more active folks. Suggestions?

For reference, I'm in my 40s. Seems like most of what i've found is either budget accomodations and young people or 5 star accomodations and retirees. I'm somewhere in the middle.

Many colonies were founded to settle Roman soldiers but do we know how the land distribution worked? Some of these colonies, such as Timgad, dont look very agricultural. So were soldiers granted houses/workshops instead of land to cultivate? Did the imperial house hold onto land in these cities for future distribution over the next generation or did it happen all at once?

Is there a way to get web request logs for the GlobalProtect portal?

I'm uncomfortable having a login page sitting on the Internet and not being able to explicitly see the web traffic (looking for IIS/Apache style request logging). If a successful attack manages to get a webshell on the device, it would be helpful to see GET requests to an unusual page with 200 status code. I could write alerting for that.

Ivanti has unauthenticated web request logging for their vulnerability laden VPN portal, so I'm really hoping Palo Alto does too and I just haven't found it in the docs.

HR started getting calls asking if a remote job being advertised on Facebook is real. We discovered a scammer has joined tons of Facebook groups for job hunting and keeps soliciting fake remote customer service jobs for my company. They pass the victim off to someone using WebEx chat for an "interview" and after being accepted the victim is asked to send $350-$450 to cover "upfront costs" via ApplePay or Venmo. That's the scam. Meanwhile our Facebook scammer is walking them through the process reassuring them this is normal trying to get them to pay, even offering to cover the expense if they don't get reimbursed. A number of people have fallen for this scam. In fact, when I went looking for

I've decided to visit Jordan later this year and I love reading books about the Roman History of the area before I go, especially knowing I'm going to visit archaeological sites like Philadelphia (Amman), Jerash (Gerasa), Umm Qais (Gadara), and Petra. I just read Roman Arabia by G.W. Bowersock and it was pretty academic and philological. Are there any good books folks would recommend on Roman Arabia, the Decapolis, the Nabateans or more generally the Near East? Thanks!

We have EDR for endpoints and NDR/Next-gen firewalls looking for network anomalies, but how do you protect/detect compromised network devices like routers and switches. They're common attack points for APTs but I feel like I have no visibility.

Heading to Rome in a few weeks and I see a bit of rain in the forecast. Am I going to want to pack a rain jacket in my day bag? Or is that a waste of space? I've lived places where downpours were normal and i've lived places where it just drizzles a lot. Which is it in Rome?

Biking down the greenway on Clinton I stopped at the blind intersection at 26th where there's a stop sign. A bike behind me blows through the intersection and narrowly missed getting t-boned by cross traffic. He didn't stop, he didn't slow to yield, he just biked through the intersection like he owned it. Then he went on to blow the red at Cesar Chavez.

Bikes are supposed to follow road rules. Be predictable, stay alive.

When it comes to lungs or legs, lungs have always been my limiter (even when I'm running tons of miles). One of the reasons seems to be that my sinuses often clog up during runs and races. Occasionally, popping a Claritin opens everything up and then I have a blissful workout where I feel like I get all the oxygen I need. But most of the time it doesn't work. Today I blew out my sinuses and took a Claritin pre-race, but at the race everything clogged up and I couldn't get much air through my nose.

Anyone else run into this? Suggestions? First response from my doctor was "keep taking anti-allergy meds".

Does anyone actually use the new bike lanes on SE Foster and outer Powell? They removed traffic lanes to install bike lanes on busy streets and I've never seen any bikes using them.

Personally, I don't want to ride my bike on busy car streets. I love the greenways and try to stay on the greenways because it limits the car interactions. I fear we're going to do the same thing to Hawthorne and with the wonderful greenways on Lincoln and Salmon, no one is going to use the new bike lanes. Full disclosure, I live near Hawthorne and actually drive Hawthorne at rush hour, so I fear they're going to screw up my commute for nothing.

I planned to do a cosmetic update to my bathroom. Removed the cove base baseboards, replaced the light fixture, removed the old built-in vanity and started noticing a somewhat noxious smell. It's not sewer related. It's not natural gas. My friend says it smells synthetic. I installed the new vanity and the smell didn't go away as I'd hoped. I had a plumber out but I'm not sure he could smell anything (seemed congested) and he didn't identify anything unusual, no water in the crawlspace or anything like that.

The smell builds up over time. It's much worse during the day and is barely noticeable in the middle of the night. I can't trace it back to a single point.

My current possibilities:
