My wife and I have been thinking about a lifestyle where we spend around 2–3 months of the Canadian winter in a warmer country every year, probably sometime between mid-January and mid-April, while keeping Canada as our main home.

The biggest question for us is school once our kids are school-aged.

I’m curious if there are any families here who are already doing something similar. Do you take your kids out of school for a couple of months? Homeschool while you’re away? Enroll them temporarily somewhere else? Or have you found another arrangement with their school?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from families in Ontario/GTA, but experiences from anywhere in Canada would be helpful.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant and scheduled to step away from work in early November.

Work has recently become difficult due to sudden daily 1-on-1s (apart from daily scrums), tight deadlines and high pressure. Combined with severe back pain (I work as an IT developer sitting for 8 hours), insomnia, and anxiety, my doctor has advised me to go off work immediately on medical leave for 4 weeks.

I’m applying for Short-Term Disability (STD) through our group insurance provider (Sterling Brokers) to cover this period.

A few questions for anyone in Ontario who has navigated private STD:
Insurance Approval: Did you face any pushback getting workplace STD approved for a co

Hi everyone,

I’m currently 26 weeks, set to go on maternity leave in early November. Lately, things at work have become extremely difficult and stressful. My manager recently set up daily 1-on-1s on top of our regular daily scrums, and the sudden micromanagement and pressure are really wearing me down.

On top of the workplace stress, I’m dealing with severe back pain (I work as a IT engineer, so sitting at a desk for 8 hours is getting unbearable), severe restless legs/insomnia, and bad anxiety. My family doctor evaluated me and wrote a note taking me off work immediately for 4 weeks.
I’m planning to apply for Short-Term Disability (STD) through my workplace insurer (Sterling Brokers) to

Hey all,

We are planning a dry ice gender reveal and need fuse lit smoke bombs (the ones with a 2–3 second fuse delay).

All the fireworks shops we’ve called and visited across Toronto (Rocket, Kaboom, etc.) only carry wire pull ones. The problem with wire pulls is that they ignite instantly and reveal the color immediately, which ruins the timing/surprise for our setup.

Does anyone know of physical shops, paintball/airsoft stores, or local vendors in the GTA that stock fuse-lit color smoke?

Thanks in advance

I’m planning to apply for a Super Visa for my mother and I’m wondering whether my TFSA Wealthsimple investments can be included as proof of financial support.

All of my TFSA is invested in ETFs and stocks rather than sitting in cash. The account has a substantial balance, and I can provide recent statements showing the current value.

Has anyone successfully used TFSA investments (ETFs/stocks) as part of their financial documentation for a Super Visa application? Did IRCC accept it without issues, or do they mainly focus on income and cash savings?

I’d appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I’m in my first trimester and trying to decide between a Midwife (specifically Sage-Femmes) and an OB at Centenary Hospital (on)

I’m a bit nervous about the birth process. If I choose a midwife, is it strictly a natural/vaginal birth? I want to know what happens if I change my mind later in the pregnancy and decide I want a C-section. I know that if one becomes medically necessary/emergency I would get an OB immediately.

Can you still get a C-section if you are under midwife care at Centenary? I’d love to hear from anyone who has used Sage-Femmes or delivered at this hospital!

Hey everyone!

For those of you doing high-end residential cleaning services, I’d really appreciate your insight.

In your experience, which GTA neighborhoods tend to attract higher-ticket residential clients who value quality over price?

Just trying to focus my efforts in the right areas and avoid wasting time.

Thanks in advance 🙏
