I've searched around for how spiritbonding works and can't find all the information I want anywhere, so I did some testing to hopefully make this a useful guide.

Tests were done with HQ 690 (Lv. 100) gear at BTN/MIN level 100. The basic methodology is monitoring the materia extraction window while counting gathering actions.

Here are the findings:

  • The base rate of spiritbond gain was around 0.64% for Unspoiled and Folklore nodes, around 0.11% for Ephemeral (sand) nodes, and around 0.04% for normal nodes.
  • The above gets a +20% bonus for each materia in your gear slot, making it 2x for fully pentamelded gear. The bonus is multiplicative.
  • The above then gets a +10% bonus for each Spir

  1. Go to Chat Log settings, one way is to click the little Gear icon near your chatbox

  2. Select the tab you want to change under "Log Filters"

  3. Click "Battle", then "Subject -> Engaged Enemy", then "Actions initiated by engaged enemies"

Done! This will put enemy moves into your chat log, trivializing memory games (boss casts something, checks if you remember what they cast 1 min later).

I would not recommend relying on this every time as it's still easier to load something from your own memory than from reading chat - but it's a great backup for if you forget or if you just missed the original cast. (That happens a lot when there's more things going on.)

Prepare clock positions and light parties (two parties: one tank, one healer, two dps each).

###Phase 1

  • Inferno: Raidwide.
  • 1st and 2nd Purgation (See here for all purgations: https://i.imgur.com/y126NcK.png.)
  • Shattering Heat: Tankbuster.
  • Arch Inferno: Split into two light parties. Two of the following three mechanics will activate in turn while you spin around the boss: a stack, a spread, and an enum (two pairs). You will also dodge a line between those two.
  • Radial Flagration: Proteans (spread into clock positions). This happens quickly after the end of Arch Inferno so be prepared.
  • 3rd and 4th Purgation

###Adds

  • Focus on middle add. NW/NE adds will give tanbusting tether, eac

And I highly recommend it. They've taken it down out of shame but you can read it here.

And here's the worst part.

Sensing an opportunity for connection, I chip in with my own two satoshi: “I don’t pay any attention to social media—not because I have any moral case against it,” I say, “but because, for me, reading books is the highest-bandwidth way I know to get quality information into my brain, which just craves the stimulation. I’m addicted to reading, which explains how I ended up being a writer.”

“Oh, yeah?” says SBF. “I would never read a book.”

  1. The number of simultaneous ongoing battles should be related to the size of the front. No more waiting for a single 4v4 battle to grind down for weeks while there's 100 battalions on each side sitting on their hands - unless the front is very small, in which case that'd make sense. The participants should also be able to control the size of the front to some degree, e.g. a consolidate command has your generals attempt to take/relinquish provinces to decrease front size while a breakthrough command increases it by creating salient points.
  2. The player needs to have some control over how many units are deployed in a battle. It is tremendously frustrating watching your generals deploy a tin

In June/July last year, a number of WoW players switched to FFXIV, driven by streamers and content creators. But how many actually were there? We can get a hint of that from some data.

The main observation is that WoW isn't much of a thing in Japan, so the change in active server populations between each data cluster will give us a hint. Japan's population change is the "baseline", while NA/EU will indicate the "excess" driven by the WoW exodus.

From luckybancho, here are the statistics for active population count:

2021/02/072021/11/05% change% change adjusted for JP
JP343,043465,834+36%0%
NA403,974813,073+101%+48%

Hi everyone, I'm planning on playing as Great Qing for my first Victoria 3 game. I've been following the ARRs so I have a grasp of the basic mechanics. Here's my game plan, please give it a read.

  1. It's probably going to cost a lot of money to industrialize such a massive nation. I'm thinking of leveraging consumption taxes. In the last gameplay video devs said that intoxicants are an efficient use of authority for consumption taxes. I don't think China starts with much, so I'm thinking of mass importing an intoxicant, maybe liquor, maybe something else. Who knows, maybe it'll even help pacify the populace and build up relations with the exporter.

  2. China starts off with a closed economy

In English, transformed Hephaistos is dominating, terrifying, and otherworldly - certain of his victory and your destruction. His voice is packed with unwavering confidence.

He is stutterring in the Japanese text.

From the first line where he declares he'll meet Athena again, his voice starts faltering.

He can barely speak properly in Japanese. He trips over his words. This is meant to capture his humanity collapsing due to how much of a monstrosity he's become. My impression is that he's dying anyway, and he's taking you with him.

The difference is especially stark near the end, after HC2.

After you've alchemized the Phoenix to survive his false enrage by reviving, he launches the

The important preamble here is that difficulty is, of course, subjective, and no one can tell you how hard a fight is for you. But there are broad strokes that people generally agree with. This is an attempt to capture those broad strokes with some solid numbers that enable comparison with the new EX fight.

I'm keeping this as spoiler-free as possible (no mechanic details), but if you want to avoid all possible details of a fight you should probably avoid this.

A fight is essentially a dance of movements, and to capture the difficulty of a fight, I categorize the required movements as follows:

  • A tight move is one with either tight timing or a tight position. Roughly, tight timing is

THE FAIRY: That's why you must look for it. I must absolutely have the blue bird. It's for my little girl, who is very ill.

In Maurice Maeterlinck's 1908 play "The Blue Bird -- A Fairy Play in Six Acts", the two children Tyltyl and Mytyl are on a journey to seek the Blue Bird of Happiness. The fairy Bérylune, who looks like their neighbor, asks them to find the Blue Bird to cure her sick daughter. She gives them a diamond that lets them awaken the souls of objects and creatures, as well as travel to the past and future. A beautiful woman, the personification of Light, leads them on their quest. I haven't heard anyone talk about this play in relation to FFXIV, so I'd like to highligh
