I recently set up a Raspberry Pi based Plex server and it works great. However, if it is left idle for a while it acts like it can't see the external hard drive if a Plex client tries to connect. If I manually go into the UI on the Pi and access the drive, it fixes the issue for the remote client and they are able to access files again.

Never had this problem with my old windows server, so I'm wondering if it's a Linux or Pi setting I'm missing to not sleep/suspend drive access? I'm brand new to Linux so I could be missing something haha.

  • raspberry Pi 5
  • Ubuntu Linux (most recent version from the Pi imager)
  • storage is western digital HDD (not SSD) drive in an exte
