Thankfully someone posted this new schedule for the incoming class. I think this will have the effect of increasing applications because there will no longer be biweekly travel every month. I have yet to know what impact this might have on the academic rigor of the program. As I mentioned in that comment, I mentioned that I think this will increase international applications and maybe make this program more diverse given that the travel is a lighter. However, you're going to need to take off Thursday on top of Friday. And of course be aware that you'll need to attend the international weeks and have the time sponsorship to do that.

There are a lot of important points to what I end up telling people the most often:

Your resume should not look like a job description or a list of things you are responsible for doing.

It should describe your job well enough (possibly company well enough) to give the reader context to appreciate your personal and specific achievements.

The mantra: succinct, but complete

· Every single word has a purpose

· It uses universal language instead of industry jargon, to the extent possible. Break out of acronym jail.

· One page only - maximize the use of space horizontally.

· Give context: provide a one-line company description if needed.

· Give context: provide a job scop

I notice that many know about STAR but are shaky on how to apply it.

First, consider your most unique strengths and the examples to back it up. We want to start with a "claim" and then a story to support said claim.

*Situation/Problem*
What is the precipitating event?
Do not cover the whole project. Make it a moment in time or a specific problem that occurred during the project.

*Task*
Goal; on the meta-level, what needs to happen for the problem to be resolved? This is ONE line; the problem statement flipped positive basically.

*Action*
What path did you choose? What steps did you take? Be specific so we can visualize what you did. The goal is to help us get to know you

Hi everyone, as the first round of EMBA deadlines arrive for most schools, wanted to touch on average age/work experience for each of the top programs. They vary quite a bit. Hoping this might provide some nuance and help you avoid potentially wasted effort.

Wharton: It’s concentrated around people in their 30s: year after year, only 20% of the class is over 40. Also, the only US based program breaking out this stat. Everyone stays in the same hotel every other weekend and I wonder if they are looking to maintain a certain social dynamic by avoiding big age gaps (this might create cliques).

Just this year that number bumped to 25% which makes me wonder if this average went up because t

As Wharton offers are coming in, I've been asked to comment on the differences to help people decide. This is by no means comprehensive but what comes to mind.

At Wharton EMBA, it includes a residential element, everybody stays in the same hotel. This is the case even if you live locally. Wharton believes that this residency requirement deepens the ties you have with your cohort. At Booth EMBA, most people stay in three hotels around Gleacher with a smattering of people who stay a bit further out. There are always groups going out in the evenings, but the logistics might be a bit less obvious.

The average age is 37 at both programs but at Wharton only 16% are over the age of 40 according t

Posted this in another thread and felt it might be useful.

The required executive assessment score depends upon who you are as an applicant. For a diverse (underrepresented minority/female) they are mainly looking for competency - they want to know that you can handle the coursework.

To establish competency they look at a wide variety of factors, like do you have good math grades in your undergraduate or masters, do you have a CFA or do you do a quantitative job. They want to qualify you because offering diversity is really key to the whole value proposition of an executive MBA, what they are selling.

But if you are not an underrepresented minority or female, then your score is competin

Essay 2: Community, belonging and inclusion are important values at Kellogg. Tell us about a community that’s important to you and how you contribute to or impact that community. (450 word maximum)

Kellogg has added the DEI angle to this essay this year, showing you how important it is to them. Approaching this question, consider what stories each of your recommenders could share in the first recommendation question, “

In the application, you shared your short-term and long-term goals. How will Kellogg and an Executive MBA equip you to reach those goals? What are you looking to gain or develop during your MBA experience? (450 word maximum)

Kellogg wants to make sure you have a clear focus – which is why the question on short term career goal and long-term career goal are only a few words. If you need more space to articulate it, it’s not specific enough. Role/industry/geography is about all you need.

Reflecting on your short term career goal, consider what might be stopping you from achieving that now. Would you be in better standing to get the goal job with an EMBA? Or, do you feel you would be o

Round 1 April deadline for Fall intake is approaching and I'll be tackling the various elements of the Kellogg EMBA application.

Essay 1 starts out with, “In the application, you shared your short-term and long-term goals” so before tackling essay tips – let’s start here first. These short answers are the basis for the your response in Essay 1 - I will write a separate article for that.

What is your short-term career goal? 150 characters (~23 words)

They only give you about 20 words and specify “career” goal because – here, you just need to state your goal job title upon completing the Kellogg EMBA. If you are a Marketing Manager now, it might be Director of Marketing; if you are Direct
