Both my daily driver as well as a phone a I have running hotspot have stopped.earning this afternoon. Looked in Discord but didn't see anything with a quick glance.

Is there some kind of outage going on or did I get hit by a rare localized solar flare that knocked.out Bluetooth?

Am I the only NFT "first timer" here?

I never really understood the NFT hype. I understand art and art ownership, but generally you don't own the copyright on NFT artwork, so personally I don't see much value there.

This makes sense to me though. One NFT that acts like a membership card, and one to many NFTs that represent a service provided in hashrate mining crypto.

So this project was it. This was the reason I figured out how to mint NFTs. I joked with a couple buddies that I paid $300 for a spinning picture that goes "BRRRRRR" , but after we chuckled I explained how this works and got understanding nods. I can't say they'll be buying in, but they get the utility. In fact one of them

Seems to be mostly an EU thing at the moment, but I think it has potential. From what I saw it could make APRS a bit like a virtual scavenger hunt or AR game.(mixing real life with virtual gameplay like Ingress or Pokemon Go)

Anyone else seen this and/or tried it? Signed up for free and hoping to hit a summit a few hours away in the next few weeks to see if I can "log" it. It could be really cool to setup 2-part caches that require picking up a "code word" at location one that has to be messaged to an APRSD service that responds with coordinates to location two and the log point. (If I can ever get APRSD running I'd love to test that one out) For event days ma

This call seems to be sending a beacon about every 5 seconds, each with a different APRS symbol, repeating a pattern across the globe. I realize this is likely some sort of programmed "bot", but I'm curious if anyone knows more about it. APRS seems a limited audience for propaganda. I only noticed it at all because it dropped the design over western PA, my QTH.

Been reading up on DMR for awhile now, and I have a question I haven't seen discussed. If I have a hotspot, I can go to Brandmeister self-service and setup static talkgroups. Does that then allow me to scan those talkgroups on my HT and hear any transmissions?

I suppose the question is: outside of getting a radio capable of promiscuous mode, how does one go about scanning talkgroups when using a hotspot? I understand setting static talkgroups on the hotspot, but I'm not 100% clear on how that translates to scanning on the HT, other than if the talkgroup isn't static the HT won't hear it for sure.

I have an Allstar node running on a Pi3 using an old HTX-202 HT (2 meter FM) as the node radio. I'm currently using 146.565 with a PL tone, which I believe is in the simplex frequency segment (as such) in our area. I've been asked by a few hams that wandered into it what kind of system I have running, assuming an automated station doesn't belong in the simplex segment. Nothing argumentative, but it got me wondering if I should actually have that elsewhere. Far as I can tell there are no hard and fast rules on simplex nodes, so I'm wondering what the general consensus of the users here is: what frequency segment of the allotted band should be used for analog simplex nodes such as Allstar
