What is the best way to backup installed drivers? I am curios what would be the best way to go about it. If one wants to preserve the drivers you already have installed due to not finding them anymore on manufacturer site. This is for performing a clean install.
Before you ask, I did go ahead and got advice from AI on google and it lead me to look for double driver app. I blindly downloaded double driver portable 4.10 from major geeks search result, thinking it would send me to page before download but instead just downloaded it right away. Seem small just few MB’s maybe 3MB? put on virustotal only one unknown av flagged it. Deleted it from pc 2 mins later and perform scan and now my W
It seems like the latest version since 2024 broke compatibility. Problem is i was not aware and while i did keep my system usually offline decided to update to latest and no restore points now latest stuff wont open. Doing repair, reset for apps and Microsoft store app doesnt help.
The affected system will have SSE3 cpu only. Specs in current broken system Amd Turion x2 1.9Ghz, 4GB DDR2, APU ATI x1200 128MB, 500GB HDD 7200rpm with 350GB free space. Windows 10 22h2 fully update with ESU. Photo App and Calc app are ones that don’t work but other apps from App store can work like PC Manager.
Tried googling some articles that may have had fixes been retired by Microsoft and are gone. Obvio
Is Legacy Update suppose to update the definitions for Defender? When running it doesn’t find anymore updates to do after it got Vista caught up to April 2017 security updates. If I manually download the Vista Defender update definitions file from Legacy Update. I run it as admin and nothing happens. Definitions still remain old outdated from 2010. I wanted to at least put 2019 definitions on it. How can i force it?
Thanks
Does anyone know if latest Nvidia drivers still work with old SSE3 cpus? For example Intel Q6600 cpu or Phenom x4 9100e. Or do they still produce bsod crashes for cpus that lack SSE4.2 POPCNT instructions? Last year its when it happened after 552 drivers. Then i read Nvidia fixed it on 566.03 but I am curious if latest version of Nvidia drivers work still. I didn’t want to just assume and break my OS.
My two old pcs run GTX 750 and I just want to archive last good Nvidia driver for my 2008 era pcs. Thanks
What firmware to upgrade old ddwrt version that is couple of years old to latest? I have two Linksys e1550 and another is e3200. Both already have ddwrt and i want upgrade them to latest but unsure if i should upgrade to dd-wrt.v24-61981_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv60k.bin
Before installing mini version do i need to install that big nv60k file? Or can i install the mini before? Currently they have some old mini version from like 2015 and want to get something newer on them.
Is this the right files to use?

Years ago there used to be some distros that came bundled with free open source games and it was just ready to go right away. There was one that had like 100 games. I don’t know if anyone still makes such distros or if anyone can point me to the old one?
I’m using Comodo Firewall and so far seems pretty good. Its free and latest version still supports W7. It also allows you to run applications inside a container. Don’t see much recommendation for it here and I wonder why.
I started going back to my W7 install on my old pc this past days and brought it online. Also got Firefox ESR updated with Ublock Origin and Malwarebytes. I have thought about getting MSE but seems like Microsoft official site removed it. I found the definitions update but not the installer on Microsoft site. If its somewhere else let me know.
I am just curious if anyone has done a comparison between MSE and Comodo, and see which of those is better option?
I manually converted my Windows 10 22h2 from MBR to GPT using cmd mbr2gpt /covert /allowfullos It went thru and i thought all I needed was to change bios from Legacy boot to EFI. Thats where my issue started because Asus was lazy and never gave my board a proper UEFI bios. Now I want to revert the GPT conversion back to MBR.
Can I still save my Windows install and revert it back to MBR from GPT?
I have a 2012 era pc. Asus lga1155 p8z68 GEN V 3. 32GB DDR3, AMD 390 8GB. Asus apparently never gave it a proper UEFI bios. Although its last bios update was from Nov 2012. It has bios options for Legacy or EFI for boot up. I thought that simply flipping to EFI Boot would work but that didn’t
