I understand the logic of jets being able to fly below anti-aircraft missile lock on and using flares. But when they are flying low and slow and I can hit one with 30 mm cannon on a boat three or four times that should destroy the plane. Same goes for the fixed anti-aircraft guns, if planes are flying low enough and slow enough those guns should shred them. I understand helicopters taking more of a beating because they are not very fast, but the Jets should not be fast fly so low they can’t be hit by missile and be able to take so much Canaan fire.

I’m part of the GWOT era when most people had some experience deployed with conventional forces. Lately I have been running into more people who have no experience deployed with conventional forces, but want to bring their SOF or inter agency experience into everything. Those are good things and those organizations are great at what they do but “that’s how we did it at X organization” doesn’t always work well at an army or joint organization.

I haven’t found a good way to bring people back to helping the organization they are in instead of talking about what the cool guys do.

Look junior CPT, just because you sat in the interagency office for a couple months, and maybe watched some ops, doesn’t mean you don’t have to do the army job. I don’t give a shit that the tier one guys have different rules, and yeah Title 50s a different game, but Jesus Christ you still have to do the army work.

Just a coffee please, I’m late for a meeting with the CG because this dumb dumb doesn’t think he has to do a risk assessment for a range.

There is a walking trail that runs right next to my driveway. Do I need to maintain the weeds and plants growing next to the trail and in between the bricks on the sidewalk in front of my house? Is that considered a homeowners responsibility or is that something in the city manages?

I’m fine with doing it just curious.

Someone asked about using AI in ILE and I am curious what everyone else is seeing. I am getting old so everyone I work with has been around a bit but I see people falling into a couple big categories:.

  1. People trying to automate everything and agressively using AI agents (<10%)

  2. People who use it to help write awards/Evals/anything else (~50%)

  3. People who have never opened an AI program (~30%)

  4. People who have completly shut their brain off and just use AI for everything (~10%)

Overall I think it's been a net positive in automating the most painful work (formating an operations order) and most people understand that it's just one of the tools. The people who just ask AI

What exactly is the expectations for cars? I understand what the written rules are but it seems that people drive in them, park in them, and drive through them with really no enforcement of any kind. Deliveries I get, but I have seen people park in them and walk -3m to sit down for dinner and no one seems to really care.

The windshield wiper on the right side of the car has started to just barely flutter on the highway. It creates a really annoying chattering sound inside the car. I have tried adjusting the wiper blade, but nothing seems to change it. As this happened to anyone else? Is there an easy fix?

My wife and I moved overseas for an oppotunity at her work. It was the right move, good for the kids, I don't have to work if I don't want to, everything seems good on paper.

I am miserable however. I don't NEED anything more but I feel like as an individual I am withering away. I had a great job at a huge company, lots of visibility, high pay, fairly relaxed that I left for this move. The jobs I am being offered now are good money but dead-end and what I would have taken ~7 years ago.

I am struggling with my place in the world and what to do next. I can be a good husband and father but I need something for my own self actualization as well.

Has anyone taken a step backward professi

I am a reservist in Germany as the spouse of a DoD civilian who receives LQA. If I take some full time orders and get BAH their LQA will be adjusted down more than my BAH and we will end up with overall less housing money. Is there any way to decline receiving BAH?

Now that they are at annoyingly similar price points. Would you buy a new BMW M2, maybe even a CS, or a 997 911, s/4s/GTS? Either would be an automatic, would carry two small children in the back seat, and see a mix of commuting a maybe a dozen track days a year. I wouldn’t modify anything.

I think the 911 is more special and it won’t depreciate, but the M2 would have a full warranty and modern infotainment.

This would be a second car. I’m probably leaning toward the M2 just for ease of buying and owning a new car but I’m interested in other thoughts.
