For one, shoutout to Giants legend & World Champion Dan Uggla!

Jokes aside, what happened to him? He had a pretty decent career with Marlins and then traded to Braves for Infante & Dunn. He put up 1.6 WAR his 1st yr with Braves & 2.9 WAR with AS appearance his 2nd year and then things went downhill to the point where he was left off of Braves 2013 NLDS roster. He was out of baseball by 2016

Curious what led to his decline? I recall reading something about his eyesight but also wondering maybe injuries did him in. Did Marlins see something and traded him when they did?

Video is here

I came across this video last night and it goes back as far as 10 years. Get ready to see players you barely recall in a Giants uniform such as Chase D'Arnaud (Travis's older bro), Justin Maxwell (he's a dentist now btw) & Casey McGehee. In recent years ones, it's fun to see Thairo Estrada, Wilmer & Yaz being in the center of the comeback

The affidavit from the spy is out and holy shit it's pretty entertaining read.

Some key points:

  • The spy Keith O'Brien originally applied for a role at Deel but didn't get it. He was in touch with Deel CEO Alex Bouaziz at the time

  • Keith eventually agreed to spy for Deel after Alex brought it up

  • Keith communicated with Alex and others from Deel via Whatsap

  • Keith received $6,000/month for providing data to Deel. Deel eventually offered to pay him in cryptocurrency instead

  • Deel lawyers actually advised Keith to lie and make shit up about Rippling & Russian payments whi

Selling on Linkedin

Fundamental Sales Skills

So just now I saw a post from a LI sales influencer saying he basically hates pitch slaps after having connected with someone. He also added that this isn't sales as this is simply bad marketing and that he will remove anyone who pitch slaps him.

I have worked in sales for 10+ yrs and I know I personally hate any sort of sales pitch on Linkedin. Heck, I don't even like sales pitches on here as I just want to chat sales with other comrades here along with sharing experiences instead of getting pitched.

That said, I do think if you wanna pitch on Linkedin, I'd much rather you just do it from the getgo to save everyone some time. The "who are you? Why should I care?/How does this help me?" p

Linkedin posts bashing sales people

Sales Topic General Discussion

So earlier today I saw a post on LI from Head of IT Security about how he doesn't accept invite to connect from sales folks anymore due to pitch slaps and neverending outreach cadences.

I definitely hear what he's saying as I have also criticized some outreach methods as being a mere pest and that's not how some people want to be contacted nowadays. In fact, I have also mentioned it a few times on here as well BUT one thing I would never do is comment on posts like that with "As a salesperson, I agree we need to do better! I apologize on behalf of bad sales people yada yada" as basically it reeks of "LOOK AT ME, I'm different" while bashing your profession.

Curious on what you guys think a

I think this is a reminder to...not be an absolute dumbshit when making fake dials. If you don't make fake dials, power to you! If you do, most definitely don't make it obvious like dialing the same # multiple times a day and hang up within 10s, stay in phone trees for god knows how long or dial into meetings in an attempt to up one's talk time, calling too many out of service #s or calling family & friends multiple times a day.

I feel to fire someone for fake dials means they caught you red headed enough times to basically form a case against you to justify firing. What's also unfortunate is this person has many years of sales experience so she should have known better imo.

I imagine others have different ways of defining 'underrated' but for me, it will be no All Star appearance, not a household name but did his job well (for the most part).

For me, 2 names come to mind and they are Mike Adams & Eric O'Flaherty. Mike Adams had nasty stuff and was the setup man for Heath Bell on the Padres. Because I feel he was setup man during an era where people prioritized and appreciated closers more, it seemed like he didn't get much recognition. He also felt bad signing a 2 yr deal with Philly as he felt that he was "stealing" money since his injuries kept him out.

I also appreciate EOF as seems like he was kinda the forgotten member of the early 2010s 3 headed monste

We ALL know where we were right when we learned the news. I was on a cruise furiously checking Player's Tribune at 6am EST. I actually never got the article to load once it was actually as I think I learned the news thru our sub or r/NBA lol.

GOAT team with 2 rings in 3 straight Finals appearances was dope AF. However. it also sucks to ponder about how 8 years later, KD is still hated for the move and his legacy hasn't changed much at all. You compare this to Bron and how 8 yrs after The Decision, he was beloved and people have forgotten about him leaving Cleveland thanks to the 2016 title.

I'm open to new roles and applied for a role late April. Recruiter got in touch with me the following day to set up recruiter video call the same day. The recruiter was 'memorable' (not in a good way) as she was super anti-WFH but this whole time I didn't even mention anything about wfh, hybrid or fully in office. I wasn't particularly enthused about the role (account manager role) as it was fully in office and I could tell it's one of those sales jobs where you are on the chopping block if you don't perform fast. Recruiter said she will get back to me but never did

Fast forward to last week (aka end of June), she called and left a voicemail wanting to check in on me. I have a feeling their

I ask as this happened to me earlier today. Recruiter reached out and I thought the product looked interesting enough. Without doxxing them, they basically sell consulting services to high school kids who want to stand out when applying to colleges.

For me, the red flags mentioned during recruiter call:

  1. Role is for business development manager but it's not an actual BDM role. Instead, it's an IC role and a mix of BDR (for top of the funnel), closer & some marketing.

  2. Base pay is low for my HCOL city. I made more as a BDR 3 yrs back only doing top of the funnel stuff

  3. They want results within 1st 30 days. I have commented on here before about how I personally think ramp up can tak
