Anyone who has seen the Circus Krone Munchen tape from '78 or Baby Snakes knows about Zappa's bodyguard, John Smothers. The guy seemed so sharp and hilarious, and I was curious about what became of him. I haven't been able to find any information. Anyone know?

I am considering doing the Mt. Mitchell Trail starting from Black Mountain Campground in two weeks when I visit WNC - http://www.hikewnc.info/besthikes/appalachian-ranger-district/mount-mitchell.

I've been reading that hikers take 3.5 hours just to go the 5.5 mi, and I'm wondering if anyone has run this 5.5 stretch and back. How long did it take you? I really want to try it, but also want to know how early I should start (considering mid-August).

I'll be visiting Asheville from Raleigh in mid-August for the weekend to do some trail running/training for an upcoming ultra in October. While I could easily look up all of the trails/parks to run online, but I rather hear it from the locals. I know there's definitely no shortage of trails, but I'm sure some stick out more than others, especially if you're a runner.

I'm hoping to get a good amount of climbing during my runs out there, as well as some solid scenery, so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
