Hi everybody!
I’m freaking out over this :(

My partner and I met while I was in my home country and he was visiting his family here. After 2 years, we got engaged. He had spent the majority of his life in my home country because his parents are from here, even though he was born in the US. Now, I’ve got a residency job as a physician in the US on a J-1 visa. My DS160 did ask me if I am engaged to a US citizen and I answered yes.

We are not planning on immigrating to the US at all. But I’m concerned about my visa getting rejected over this 😭

Any insight is appreciated! Thank you.

All our hard work has brought us to this moment. It’s nerve racking. But at the end of the day, I hope we are all happy with the results. One more day to go 😭

Hi everyone,

I’m a 2026 Match IMG and would really appreciate insight from other IMGs who’ve navigated something similar.

I had 5 interviews this cycle. All the programs I applied to sponsor J-1 visas through ECFMG.

Here’s my situation:

I’m engaged to a U.S. citizen, and we’re planning to get married as soon as possible. I’m hoping to start residency at the end of June (if I match), and I’m trying to figure out whether pursuing a marriage-based green card with EAD would make sense instead of going the J-1 route.

From what I understand:

• J-1 sponsorship is straightforward through ECFMG.

• A marriage-based adjustment of status would allow me to apply for an EAD, which may take ~3–4 mo

ROL please help!

Rank Order List

Hi everyone,

I’m a 2026 Match applicant and would really appreciate some advice on my rank order list strategy.

I have 4 Family Medicine interviews and 1 Internal Medicine interview. I’m primarily interested in Family Medicine, but I did genuinely like the IM program as well.

Right now, I’m considering ranking them as follows: (Reposted with my ROL)

Trinity Health (FM)

Doctors Hospital Augusta (FM)

HCA Houston (IM)

Hennepin Healthcare (FM)

ECU Medical Center – Rural Program (FM)

I reviewed previous Match data and saw that having more contiguous ranks within a specialty is associated with higher match rates.

Because of that, I’m wondering whether breaking up my FM programs with IM

Hi everyone,

I’m a 2026 Match applicant and could use some clarity on ranking strategy.

I have 4 Family Medicine interviews and 1 Internal Medicine interview. I’m primarily interested in FM, but I genuinely liked the IM program as well (I have a strong connection in the IM program)

If I rank the IM program in between my FM programs (e.g., FM #1, FM #2, IM, FM #3, FM #4), does that affect my chances of matching into FM at all? Or does the NRMP algorithm simply try to match me to the highest program on my list regardless of specialty?

I’ve reviewed prior Match data and saw that higher numbers of contiguous ranks within a specialty are associated with better match outcomes. So I’m wondering

Hey everyone, I’m getting ready for SOAP. I heard they conduct phone interviews, so I need to be available during US hours.

I’m curious how applicants outside the US manage this. Will the program call international numbers?

I’m currently in the US because I took Step 3 and am attending some social events. Should I consider staying in the US until SOAP to make it easier with the time difference and to attend phone interviews?

I’d really appreciate your input. Thanks! :)
