Anyone know why this is? It's just annoying that by closing this entrance they force two way traffic at what used to be the exit. And it adds time. I realize I could park in the garage too, but just curious why that entrance has been blocked for what feels like a year (at least 8 months).

I have two A9s (one with version 1.0 and one with version 3.1 firmware). The 3.1 update has created a new/annoying bug when using Flashpoint/Godox flashes ONLY. [I have tried with Sony and other brands -- they all work].

When using flash (with mechanical shutter engaged of course) everything works perfectly, then when I switch out to electronic shutter (don't turn flash off, but it doesn't fire because it has to be mechanical shutter) then back to mechanical shutter, the flash will not fire until it is turned off then back on.

Lots of others with this setup are saying the same thing. Sony says it isn't their problem because that problem doesn't exist on their brand flashes. Which

I have had my A9 for 3 months and already the hot shoe is extremely loose, and wobbly. I thought it was the way the flash fit into the hot shoe, but after closer inspection, I could see that the shoe itself was crooked, and thus had come up off the camera body.

  1. Is this an easy fix?
  2. Anyone else having this issue?

I never carry my camera around by the flash, and haven't bumped it into anything. This sucks...

EDIT: There is a recall for loose hot shoes for A9s serial numbers 3370001 - 3381733 -- I'm within that range, so it's a free repair

I have an A9. I'm using Flashpoint/Godox/Cheetah TTL/LiON flashes. When I put the flash on the camera, there are two issues:

  1. After locking auto focus and pressing the shutter, there is a steady 3 second delay before the shutter and flash go. every single time. I turned off red-eye reduction, and it's still delayed. When I turn the flash off, the shutter doesn't delay. So I don't think it is a self-timer problem, either.

  2. The AF illuminator only shows up from the camera, and doesn't transfer to the flash's illuminator. The focus mode is in AF-S which I know is the only time the illuminator works.

Any thoughts? When I try the flash out on my A99II I don't have any delay

Just a friendly reminder. I'm seeing a lot of professional photos in this sub as of late, which is great (you all look awesome!). But in MOST photographer contracts, it states when sharing photos in any public medium (social media, websites, reddit, blogs, etc.) that you should write a credit to the photographer who took the pic (not necessarily in the title, or a watermark on the photo, it can be unobtrusive, even in the comments).

In any personal setting (with friends, family, coworkers, etc.) it is fine to just show the photos, or send them to anyone. Again, most of the time, I can't speak for all photographers. And ideally, if you're sharing them on reddit (with the public), you pr

While at a gig my lens felt loose. When I removed the lens two screws and the "orange dot" fell out into tall grass. I couldn't find them. Anyone know the name of the 4 screws around the plate on the mount-side? And also, what is the name of the replacement dot? I think that it actually may have something to do with the stability of the lens (maybe resistance against the camera mount to keep it snug?) -- Anyway I looked on the encompass website and I have no clue what to order...

Any advice you have - or maybe if you know where to find a detailed diagram of that lens? Cheers!

They come to my door every month or so and say things like "we heard the energy bills were high so we were sent out to help lower them". And they always say they are owned by Pepco and have the authority to lower rates for energy dramatically (16%). And I think if Pepco can do that, why don't they? I tried to research them online and haven't found anything explaining exactly how a third party gets paid, how they are able to reduce rates, why the company that owns them doesn't just do it. It seems like a scam, but I can't figure out how.

I received a lead email from a potential client (who is an IP lawyer) and they said they want the copyright. My gut instinct was (even though he wanted it for his protection) was to say no. But then I thought about Getty and things like that, and considered charging more for this right. He also said he would license the photos back to me for corporate use. I still don't like having to beg for my own work.

Thoughts? I hope some of you are around today :-)

edit: Here is what I commented below:

So we actually DID do this over email, and we have a consultation coming up! It worked out! I indicated for the assignment of copyright, a small stipend of $200 extra over my pack

  1. I arrived early, stopped by a local grocery store and picked up 2 Clif bars (1 for me, 1 for the lead), and a gatorade for each of us

  2. Talked with the lead for about 10 minutes before hand to negotiate pay and expectations. We agreed on $50/hr and $50 for travel, so $100 for first hour, and $50/hr after that. Was pretty decent!

  3. During our conversation, and on the day, we talked about how he shoots, and his exposure style. He liked to shoot wide, his dual set up was a 20mm and a 50mm. So I changed from 35/85 to 85/70-200. It was quite unique, and fun. Also, he likes to expose for skin and maybe 1 stop under exposed, not much. I like to shoot 3-4 under exposed to retain highl
