Hi Everyone,
Third one from me. You may have seen my posts on indiPDF and [indiAccounting}(https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxapps/comments/1uemizd/i_built_indiaccounting_a_full_small_business/) — the commercial desktop apps I've been building since switching to Linux. Hi Everyone,

I wanted a personal finance app that didn't ask me to hand my entire financial life to a cloud service, didn't charge a subscription, and actually ran natively on my desktop. The existing options were either web apps hungry for your bank logins, abandoned GTK projects, or spreadsheets. So indiBudget went on the roadmap, and because it's the kind of tool everyone
Hi Everyone,
Some of you may have seen my indiPDF post a while back. I'm the tech journalist who switched to Linux years ago and started building the desktop apps I couldn't find. This is the next one, and it's a big one.
For years, running a small business on Linux meant either wrestling with web apps that want to live in your browser and hold your books on someone else's server, or paying an ever-climbing monthly subscription for the privilege of accessing your own financial data. I wanted accounting software I actually owned, that ran natively, and that kept my books on my machine. So I
Anyone seeing a memory leak with Cinnamon/Muffin with the most recent Cinnamon version?
After a couple of days uptime, I start noticing text lagging a bit. Not much, only a fraction of a second, but still noticeable to someone who types as much as I do. Then some windows started to become unresponsive. First I couldn't scroll in Brave, but I could still minimize the window. Then I couldn't scroll in other apps, including Firefox and Thunderbird, and then minimizing quit working but I could still switch apps. So I press Control + Alt + Backspace, re-logged in and everything works great again.
Also, I'm using a Bluetooth keyboard that supports multiple computers. When tapping the key to swit
Hi Everyone,
I'm a tech journalist who switched to Linux several years ago. One thing I struggled with was finding a good middle-ground PDF editor on Linux. You've got lightweight viewers (Evince, Okular), browser-based tools that want your data, or expensive subscriptions.
So I built indiPDF.
Features:
- Merge, split, reorder, rotate, delete pages
- Fill out and save interactive PDF forms (including calculated fields)
- Full text editing of existing PDFs
- Annotations: highlight, underline, strikethrough, freehand drawing, shapes, stamps
- Create and apply digital signatures
- Full-text search, export pages as images, extract text
- Multi-tab interface, undo/redo, dark/light theme d
Just got my Galaxy Z Fold 7 today I'm in the US, on Verizon. One of the apps that is pre-installed, even after a factory reset is the One Store app.
Searching online, it's a South Korean app store, but it isn't normally installed on US phones.
Anyone else have this?
So...here's a new one. Just got a brand-new Dell Latitude 7350. Ordered it with Ubuntu so I wouldn't pay for Windows, burned up a Linux Mint USB and tried to boot off of it.
The initial Grub selection screen shows (the one that lets you choose between standard Mint, Mint Compability Mode, or Mint OEM Mode), and I select Mint, but then the machine boots straight into Ubuntu.
I've disabled Secure Boot, changed the UEFI boot order to make the USB drive first, and disabled the BIOS password. No matter what I do, however, the machine just keeps booting into Ubuntu.
Any ideas?
Whatever engineers and/or product managers thought spamming "Please Recharge Battery" was a good idea should have their sleep interrupted by that phrase for the rest of their days.
As sometime who falls asleep to music, in part to battle insomnia, there is nothing more frustrating than to be woken by "PLEASE RECHARGE BATTERY" being repeatedly said.
While the above is meant mainly as a joke, it is irritating enough that I will never buy another Jabra product as long as they do this.
I really love Tresorit and have paid for a 1 TB plan for several years now. Unfortunately, ongoing issues have finally forced me to move on.
I originally chose Tresorit because I wanted a private, secure cloud provider, and preferably one based in Switzerland. The service checked all of those boxes and I've been happy...for the most part.
Two issues have forced me to make a change however:
- Photo previews on Android are abyssal. Folders with a large number of photos either never load a preview image, or they take so long that it's impractical to wait. I've contacted support multiple times, but the issue is barely acknowledged and never addressed.
As a result, I've had to adopt a convol
Does anyone running LMDE have the new Power Profiles enabled? On two separate machines, both of which had Power Profile option on other distros, Power Profiles is missing.
Anyone else seeing this?
I just had to reset my phone and when I went to re-download Octopi Launcher, the link in the Beta Access post linked to version 0.85. Prior to resetting my phone, I was running the latest 0.95. Checking for updates in the Play Store doesn't show the latest version either.
Anything else I can do?
When I open my Pixel 9 Fold, the orientation of the icons change, which then turns the clock widget vertical...which looks awful, since the digits are placed single-file vertically.
I went into the Screen settings and changed it to remain in Portfolio mode, but Smart Launcher doesn't seem to respect it all the time. about 30-40% of the time, it will still switch to Landscape mode.
Love this launcher in everything else, but this bug/issue is really annoying. Is this a known bug? is there another setting I've missed that I need to change?
Thanks!
I've searched but haven't seen any other posts on this. Every once in a while, when I open a folder in my Home folder in Nemo, it is completely blank...despite the folder containing files or other folders. It also seems as if Nemo doesn't actually go into the folder correctly.
For example, I have an "Applications" folder in my Home folder that I use for the occasional AppImage. When I clicked on it a few minutes ago, the breadcrumb at the top still shows I'm in Home, but the contents in the main Nemo pane are completely blank.
When this happens, only a restart fixes it. It's extremely rare, and I can't find a common denominator in what triggers it.
Anyone else ever experience this?
