I mod for r/AtheismRebooted, r/FreeAtheism and a few others that don't matter much. Today, one of our users who just got done doing something really cool, got tangled up with one of the assholes from r/atheism and made some small mistakes that could have hurt our beleaguered reputation. So I gave him the righteous cussing out I usually apply to the worthless idiots who tell me that r/atheism has lost nothing but an opportunity for karma whoring.

I'm new at this job, and the pressures I face as being Public Enemy #1 to the many misguided morons who attack atheism have been compounded by being a mod on the refugee boat for the people all the rest of Reddit hates. Jumping ship from r/athe

Sorry to bug y'all again.

There's a sub called r/newreddits where new subreddits (such as ours) can announce their birth so as to become visible to a wider audience and (hopefully) attract subscribers.

Questions to you:

  1. Would you like to have an announcement for us in there?
    • I think 1 announcement is all we get if we don't want to be rude.
    • Possibly tomorrow (Friday) night or even Saturday would be better if we want a lot of exposure.
  2. Would anyone like to volunteer to write our blurb? Or should I? I'm open to suggestions.

I'm about to set the sub's access to PUBLIC. That means anybody can look in, subscribe, vote, post and comment.

OK, 2/3 of our users (who voted) want us to open up the sub to the public. That's good, because this gives us a clear mandate to make good on our original promise. That's about to happen, or maybe it already has when you read this.

We can gain new users now via the usual influx, we're also discussing about advertising.

Three handfuls of users would have preferred to stay private and thus un-trolled. We can't please everybody in the same sub, but if there's interest we plan to offer

I would like to fire up an ad campaign. Hundreds of Dollars are burning my pockets, waiting to be spent on Reddit advertising. Unfortunately, it seems that Reddit doesn't want my money.

If I read the rules correctly, the only acceptable forms of payment are credit cards connected to banks in the USA. Because I live in Europe, I'm left out in the rain.

Interestingly, I can buy Reddit Gold using PayPal. I've bought myself and lots of other people into the Lounge, and there was never a problem. Is Reddit really that worried about being stiffed?

You're an Internet company linking up people all over the world in a global economy! I strongly recommend looking into acquiring a less parochial out

Most of you are here because you were among the 4000+ users who responded REJECT in jij's poll of 2 weeks ago. 800 of those people were invited with the "you have been approved!" message, almost 200 subscribed. Thank you for your interest!

Unfortunately, the admins have told us not to cold-invite any more; and word of mouth is not providing much growth while we're private.

We promised at our opening and in the sidebar that we would be going public soon. This looks like the time to do it - before you all lose patience and interest. Before we do so, though, we'd like to be sure this is what you, dear subscribers, want.

Poll time!

Here are the alternatives:

My apologies to people who hate the drama about r/atheism. I continue to be concerned that people who could benefit from knowing about the sub are no longer seeing it on the front page.

People are interested in what u/TheFacebookGod is doing, and I have a bit of information so I feel I owe it to the interested users to share it.

TFBG was mod of r/atheism for a day.

He has blessed a few people, myself included, with reports of his efforts to participate reasonably there in hopes of bringing about change for the better.

I have to take his word for what he said, of course, but the one part I believe unseen is that there is a lot of dissent and chaos over there.

He seems, understanda
