Hey all,

i would like to achieve the generation of automatic dependency updates. My use case is that I have a defined project goal in the far future (everything from one to five years) which depends on a lot of tasks being added over the time of that project. I want all of the task belonging to a defined project to automatically be added as dependency to the final project task (e.g. submission of a final report).

Has anyone done something like that that or any idea how this could be achieved?

Thanks a lot.

So I'm thinking about switching from running all services on one bare metal machine to several VMs for better management and less clutter and easier diagnosis if failures occur. What I don't know, since all of the regarding knowledge is self-taught, is: How do you manage the VM users. To be more specific, which of those scenarios would represent best and worst practice:

(A) Using the same username/usergroup with the same password on each devices to login and manage the corresponding services.

(A.2) same as A but using additional new users to actually run the services.

(B) Same as A/A.2 but using different passwords.

(C) Using unique usernames and passwords for login and run services w

I'm reading a lot here about people organizing there home network with different VLANs for additional security, but is all of that really necessary or even applicable in my situation?

As far as I have understood it, in my setup (see below) there is really no point in using different VLANs for different services or device groups.

Let's go to my setup:

- One ubuntu server running: Plex, a VPN, Samba Shares, Borg server, a couple of websites for personal use which are accessible via WAN but behind a nginx basic auth, HomeAssistant. (Specs of the physical machine: J1900, 8GB RAM, 1 Gigabit Ethernet Port, SSD for the system, HDDs for storage)

- A raspberry pi running pihole

- Two Echos, N

I have a small linux server at home which serves some sites (via nginx reverse proxy) to the www.

However, when I am connected with my laptop, phone, iPad, ... to my local network, I would like to rather being redirected to the public IP and access the server that way, to be redirected by a DNS to the local IP address (e.g. type www.example.com in the browser redirecting to the 192.168.X.X of the server). This makes it easier to always type the same URL to access my wiki for example.

Unfortunately, I have currently no idea how I would go about such endeavor. I do have a raspberry pi with pi-hole running on my network and assumed that it should probably be possib

For anyone who works a lot with .csv files and wants to make LaTeX tables out of them. I made a small command line tool that will read your .csv file and write the corresponding LaTeX output into the console for you to copy. The tool also lets you ignore certain columns for the LaTeX output. Feel free to use and contribute. https://github.com/O2-AC/csv2tex

I registered for my first half marathon in the beginning of October this year. I started with some base building two weeks out building up to 30 miles a week. Realistically I think I’ll aim for HM time of sub 1:55:00. I ran two 10k and have a current PB of 53:15. However I didn’t specifically train for them.

I’m debating whether I should go with the Fitzgerald or Daniels HM plan from now. This Fitzgerald plan seems to be structured in more shorter runs compared to the Daniels plan. While the Daniels plan has more structured Intervall type workouts. Has anyone had any experience with either one of the plans and can give some insight in how it worked out?

Hey guys, I started my PhD a while ago and I'm constantly trying to establish a neat system to keep track of all my results. Since I'm mostly doing catalysis, I wish I had a system where I can put in all my reactions with their regarding results and apply any filters I want. For example, just listing all reactions with a certain substrate concentration, or all reactions which have more than x% of a certain product. Ideally I can put all my raw data into the system (GC tables, qNMR integrals, sample weights, you name it) so that I have always access to everything I want.

Right now I do have a quite sophisticated Excel spreadsheet for my GC analysis, but due to the way it is build, I can no

I started learning some coding by enrolling in the CS50 class from Harvard on edX and I am now hearing their Web Development class. Long story short, I built an ugly recipe app. The aim for me was to built the whole functionality (logic) and not focus on web design at the moment. The project is on github: www.github.com/O2-AC/recipes

It uses Flask as Backend and Postgres as database. Feel free to try yourself. First run create.py to set up your database (DATABASE_URL must be given as an environment variable). After setting up the database simply run the Flask application.

I would like to get some feedback. It's the first proper app that I build. Currently it is not possible to edit or dele

Hey guys,

I'm currently doing my PhD since about 6 months. I realized today that I don't really have an effective system in place to keep my research data together and have it accessible easily at all times.

What I could do is just collect GCs, NMRs, Papers, ... in different folders (analog as well as digital). However that means that my train of thought for doing certain experiments is basically spread over a couple of folders and it might be difficult to understand in a year why exactly one experiment was made. All the papers I read are neatly organized in Mendeley so far. I'd like to have a system which basically references connected documents. In a way like: Opening the NMR file and se

I just started with CS50 on edX and wonder if there is any way to get feedback on design and style of the code from fellow students or even TF/TAs. For getting feedback on design and style I would however have to upload my code. Is that already against the rules of CS50? I would certainly make sure to officially submit my code before asking for feedback.

As a prime example, for the Vigenere encryption I used a cascade of if, else if, else functions, which do make sense and produce the right output, but it seems to me to be poor style/design.
