My junior son has missed a ton of school this year for medical reasons, and had to withdraw from most of his classes, including all the APs (he is finishing honors pre-calc). He wants to take a couple of classes over the summer to show colleges he's serious about catching up and to have a few more grades to send with his application. We have the options of taking online courses through our local community college (Calculus 1 and one of Statistics/Intro to Psych/Intro to Sociology), or we can find an online high school that offers AP classes over the summer. Any insight as to whether community college credit courses or online high school APs would be more favored by colleges?

Looking for a small commuting car, new or used, that will take me 60 miles to and from work each day, mostly on highways. Hoping for good gas mileage, comfort since I'm in it over an hour a day, can handle Chicago weather, can fit my family of 4 on occasion, including my tall (6'1") spouse. Currently looking at new (2024) Mazda3 2.5 S Sport hatchback, 2023 Subaru Impreza Premium, or 2022 Toyota Prius. Recommendations between those, or other models?

My husband (den leader) and I (assistant) are starting our 4th year running our son's den (Jr Webelos). We've also agreed to have the Bear den join us for the foreseeable future, as their leader quit and no one else has stepped up to lead.

If anyone here ran a den with more than one age group, how did you handle getting all the adventures for both ages completed? We have 1-2 den meetings a month from Sept through April.

I'm an adult beginner, playing 2.5 years so far. I'm looking for opinions about what percentage of my practice time I should spend on technique vs. practicing pieces. I've been leaning toward mostly working on pieces, but I think I might need to switch to a different balance.

Background: I have a 30 min lesson once a week and practice with a training orchestra 90 min once a week. I have a full time job, kids, and volunteer, so I'm doing well when I can find 30 minutes a day for practicing outside lessons and orchestra. I'm a beginner violinist but had significant piano/voice experience before picking up the violin.

All opinions welcome!

Our pack leaders are currently split on a question regarding donations. While most kids are offered small amounts of donations while out selling popcorn, a couple of parents are getting large ($100ish) donations from family members/close friends. The pack is debating whether the donations should go toward the individual scouts' dues/fees, or to the pack as a whole. Several parents who are unhappy about the pack's cut of popcorn sales are advocating for the donations to go directly to pay for the individual scout's fees. Others (including me) are concerned about this pushing scouts to ask for donations and think the donations should either be turned into popcorn sales or pooled for the troop.

Looking for advice from those who have been using Noom a while and have had to adjust their daily calorie budget higher than the app gives you. How did you arrive at your ideal daily calorie budget that allows you to keep losing weight while staying healthy? I've been using it 3 months now and have been really happy with the results (I've almost reached my original goal weight), but I've also had episodes of dizziness and my sleep has been restless since I started. I know I need to eat more than 1200-1400 calories per day, but don't know how to figure out the right number. I do exercise 30+ minutes every morning, mix of aerobic exercise and weight training. Any ideas?
