I was watching a random Tool reaction video the other day listening to Wings pt 1+2, and I left a comment about how when I had seen them live after 10,000 Days came out, when they began playing Wings part 1 Maynard (being who he is) was singing quietly in the shadows. And while he's singing, because it's almost like an interlude, everyone begins talking and getting up to use the bathroom or whatever, and I heard that line "what am I gonna say to all these ghouls tonight?" And it at that moment it hit how he probably knew how the audience would be acting during that moment, and how part one was almost like he was psyching himself up to bear his feelings for all these assholes in the crowd abo

Look, we're all thrilled that you guys finally decided to bring FSR 4.1 to RDNA3 and eventually 2, and Steam Deck. We won't talk about RDNA 3.5.

However, fudging your numbers to make it look like it's 10% better than the one dll some random guy cobbled together because you wouldn't when in reality they're both damn near identical is not it.

FSR 3 is like, hot garbage. I would rather use the Steam Decks built in FSR 1 half the time. People are using FSR4 Ultra Performance because of how badly it wipes the floor with your previous offerings, even if the fps hit is atrocious currently on int8 models.

If you plan on moving forward and improving this "solution", for the love of everyt

Just wanted to share a story on here and make sure I'm not actually a crazy person feeling how I do.

We've payed for a BJ's membership for years now, and two days ago my girlfriend got in a fenderbender in the parking lot and didn't feel comfortable driving it home.

We naturally made sure to park it far out of the way, and contact the store manager who was very polite and said it was not an issue.

Today, we attempt to get it towed after checking yesterday again to make sure it wasn't drivable. It was to cost $75 with the company we were about to use. Come to find out, the District Manager took it upon themselves to tow the car yesterday without reaching out or anything, which ha

I wanted to see if they could stick the landing at all before getting into discussions about it. I wouldn't say they nailed it, but they didn't drop the ball either so here goes...

I'm a big fan of The Dark Pictures games, so I'm probably in the camp of people more inclined to like this style game. And I did. I'd say 7.5/10

It ran pretty well on the deck, around 50-60% resolution Scaling (which was irrelevant with the art style) and I didn't encounter any bugs.

The story wasn't really exceptional or anything, but I liked it well enough. I think they did a good job at spreading the "nostalgia bait" around enough that there's at least one or two sections for everyone that will land. It was

Just wrapped, and I have some thoughts.

First, the good:

-The player agency was EXCELLENT in 8020 compared to previous games. Being presented with several on-demand tools as you play made this much less a "walking sim" than their typical games. I especially liked the ability to speak with everyone at almost any point by calling them up on your wrist computer.

-The graphics and optimization were above average for Supermassive. The settings menu allowing you to view graphics changes in real time was a nice surprise.

-The story was right up there with HoA. Suspense, twists, tension, pacing....all top notch.

-The characters were mostly all interesting, making decisions that m

Game Review On Deck

Hey fellow Steam Deckers. I'm happy to report that using Optiscaler, FSR 4 is looking great at performance upscaling. I'm able to use a mix of low and medium settings and hitting a mostly stable 30 FPS, and Optiscaler is working well in conjunction.

I'll be honest, I didn't have high hopes for this game's performance, and it's exceeding expectations so far.

The game includes several options for upscaling and FrameGen, but the best part is: when you pause the game to tweak graphics settings, the menu goes clear for the scene you're in and you can preview what each setting changes IN WHATEVER SCENE YOU WANT as you play. MASSIVE kudos to Supermassive for this approach; this is how game

So I finally dove into this game and I already love it... and true to it's nature, Ive been forced to download 2 switch emulators, older versions of RPCS3, and jumped through "the guide" for native pc trying to find the best experience on Steam Deck.

I'm pretty satisfied with the ps3 emu route...but I would use the pc port if I could solve this one problem: half the audio doesn't play :(.

Footsteps, NPC dialogue, and weapon sfx are missing, while rain and ...cats meowing can be heard. For example. Has any hero encountered this problem and figured out the voodoo to fix it? Zach..?

By now, everyone should know how rough this game is in it's current state on the Deck. Early testing shows about ~15 fps and seemingly no combination of settings could fix it. I'm currently getting closer to 25-35 fps without any framegen, and importantly it's stable. With XeFG I'm comfortably playing the game right now and I anticipate that it will become even better with future mods and patches. You could also use Lossless Scaling instead for better performance (but more artifacting which I'd rather avoid in a game like this).

Further, I'm not using portable settings. There's no point. They look worse for no real gain. Right now I'm on medium shadows, textures, and terrain quality with e

Thoughts on DS2

Discussion

So I've been amped for this for a while now, and when it "dropped early" I couldn't help myself and played the reshuffle my Steam Deck space game immediately to make room for it. It's Decima Engine, so I had hopes.

I tried everything. At base performance it's around 15-20 fps. Graphics settings from portable to high, like the first game, seemingly had little impact (which isn't all bad, because high settings run equally junk and not moreso). It's hella CPU bound, so pinning the GPU to around 1200 gave an extra 5-10 fps

I tried Optiscaler, which crashed but allowed me to at least give ultra performance fsr4 a shot via the ingame settings with the optiscaler.dll disabled. Cuz why would it sh

Hey all, just wanted to share a quick tip for a technique I typically use w/the Deck controls in games where you can run.

Simple really. I remap the run button (typically L Stick Click) to the top right back button (R4). Then add another command, at the top under "system" select "Touchscreen Off".

Go into the settings for this second touchscreen off command and toggle "hold to repeat", repeat rate at 300, haptics intensity to medium. You can season the exact numbers and intensity to taste.

This gives you a sense of haptic feedback as you sprint and each leg falls. Try it out, it feels good. I choose R4 for the button for convenience, since your middle finger usually rests there,

This is a bit more for advanced users. That said, it's been a game changer in any title I've got it working so far (Cronos, TLOU2, & Stalker 2)

I'm going to assume you have a working understanding of Optiscaler, if not familiarize yourself with Google. The 'Decky Framegen' plugin is Optiscaler, but hasn't been updated with the relevant files we need yet.

You need the newest Optiscaler: from their discord or this link:

https://sharemods.com/nkhse4b2fyj2/Optiscaler_0.9.0-pre5___40_20251031__41_.rar.html

Then download the new XeSS SDK:

https://github.com/intel/xess/releases/tag/v2.1.1

You will need to copy all 4 DLLs from the bin folder in that zip file to overwrite the ones in Optiscaler

I first tried setting up ReShade on RDR2. It runs on Vulkan, and at the time I had no idea what the issue was and it soured me on using it again for a year.

What a fool I was. It's so easy. You can use the Decky Plugin, but I prefer manual installation myself.

https://reshade.me/

Download it here. To set it up, either add the ReShade exe to steam as a non steam game and run it that way, or use bottles (my favorite method; get the bottles flatpack if you don't have it)

I'm not going to explain more on the actual instal here, it's been covered to death in YouTube videos. Instead I'll explain what you Deck users must know.

Older game's shaders (DX9, like BioShock for example) will fail t

I've been enjoying my Deck more every year, and I thought I'd share my current recommendations from the past year for the upcoming sale, as well as the performance you can expect from them. Hopefully anyone who can't find a title lately will find some inspiration.

I've been on a big interactive story game kick this year, so let's begin with those:

1: House of Ashes. From the developers of Until Dawn, part of the "Dark Pictures Anthology". It holds a solid 40-45 fps 95% of the time and doesn't dip below 30 even on maxed out graphics, and it looks pretty great. The game is a lot of QTEs, horror, and decisions that shape the story

2: Heavy Rain. Originally released on PS3, it had a remaster

This is the second week in a row where I actually did that. I can't remember the last game that actually had me looking at what time of day it releases.

I even played through The Wolf Among Us over the last week because I needed a fix lol.

AdHoc did such a great job it hasn't even crossed my mind that the ending could flop. I have post Skyrim, Bethesda-levels of faith in them to finish this game strong.

Can't wait to see what they do next

Steam Deck HQ just posted a couple vids + this article on the new Silent Hill game running on the Deck:

https://steamdeckhq.com/news/silent-hill-f-fsr-4-and-lossless-scaling/

It's awesome when you see a brand new game running on something other than all low settings with upscaling to be playable, and major kudos to Konami on this one. There are a couple settings, like SSR Reflections, that if we had to turn off them off to play would have ruined the experience, luckily that doesn't seem the case.

This is an Unreal Engine 5 game, and it seems like they figured out whatever the Hell Is Us devs did to manage traversal stutter. We now have a handful of examples of proper optimization for Unr
