I’m looking to build a bench test rig for car jump starters and wanted to get feedback from people with experience in high-current or automotive testing.
At CES I saw a booth from Denvix showing a jump-starter test setup. From what I could tell, the system included:
- An AC-DC switching power supply acting as a power source
- A high-current solenoid/contactor switching the output
- A simple cycle / single trigger controller
- Heavy-gauge wiring and terminal blocks
It looked useful for validating switching, wiring, and repeat cycling. What I didn’t see, though, was anything that appeared to represent a starter motor load or a weak vehicle battery. It seemed like
