What are some of the truly great hidden gems in the city? Everyone knows big rig and Beau's, what local breweries have the best drink?

Myself I have to go with Cassel brewery red, and covered bridge dirty blonde.

Seriously why do more people not use cruise control in Ottawa? How many times a day do I have to pass a car only to get passed by it again at the next exit? Or be held up behind someone who was going the same speed as me but has now encountered a hill or driven past a distraction or any other reason to let off the gas.

I spend a lot of time on our roadways and I've often wondered to myself if we'd have any traffic slowdowns at all if every one just used cruise control.

I'm aware STO has a few stops in Ottawa but since when do they run as far south as Bronson? I followed the bus past Chinatown and past the 417, there were definitely people on board. I know OC is only allowed basically across the bridge and back so I'm surprised to see STO with an actual run in Ottawa.

Does anyone in Kanata/stittsville use this app? I see all kinds of routes but most of them haven't been ran in a couple of years. I've put mine up and done my times but no one is around to do them.

I think this app could be a great tool to push runners. I just moved to the area and don't really know anyone, my girlfriend doesn't exercise so I've always worked out alone. I saw this app and thought it'd be a great tool to challenge other people but the most active people seem to be around the canal/centertown. I work out at the movati and run a 5 or 10 k a couple of times a week, and was looking for a little extra push.

Hey folks as I've previously posted, I recently moved from metcalfe to stittsville and fall hockey season is coming up. I previously played rec league hockey at Leitrim and some very loosely organized hockey in metcalfe but I'm never going to regularly make the commute from stittsville to the south end so I'm looking for any west end leagues or teams that are looking for players for the coming winter season.

Edit: I'm a 25 yr old male if that makes a difference.

It isn't just Canada Post doing this, many large corporations are doing this and us working young are the ones faced with the working changes because we were never around during bargaining. Not only does it happen with wages but also the worst working conditions, hours and overtime are negotiated to the most junior employees. It effectively creates a backwards work environment whereas the most experienced employees handle the easiest work and the inexperienced handle the more challenging work.

Hi everyone, I just moved to stittsville a couple of weeks ago, I've lived in Ottawa my whole life, however I haven't seen a doctor in 5+ years, or had a family doctor since I lived with my parents 7 or 8 years ago. Anyways, I'm now experiencing some aches and pains I want looked at, and to my surprise my old family doctor has retired and I live nowhere near the guy who took over the practice now.

Are there any doctors in kanata or Stittsville who are currently accepting patients?

Is the MTO painting lines on the 416 at 4 pm at the start of rush hour?! Of all times of the day to do this, why now? And especially why right at the split to the 417...

Just had 2 folks come to my door claiming to be from hydro Ottawa and on behalf of the province to lock in energy rates. They wanted to see my bill and show savings. I told them twice to leave before they would. HazelDean & main St area, do the police still take these reports? From their paperwork they were from "summit energy" which is listed on the OEB site as a retailer...

So folks looks like I'm moving to suburbia. I've lived my whole life in the rural south end and my first couple years "out of the nest" in rural south Ottawa as well. Now my gf and I are moving to stittsville, and I have zero idea what is up in the West end. Best pub? Parks? We have a dog, are there any dog parks? Basically other than sens games what is there to do for fun?

I feel like I'm moving to a completely new city and don't know the lay of the land. In the end, we're moving to save some money, live in a bigger home and be closer to both our places of work. What we're losing is some serious yard space, and all our friends are now a 45-60 min drive away.

Edit: I'm changing gyms too,

Hey everyone,

My gf and I are looking to move from our apartment into a slightly larger condo. Our utilities are currently excluded from our rent and we're on hydro one with electric heat. When we signed where we are now the landlord told us the bills were $50-100/month, and that didn't even cover our first month delivery charge. The new place is quite a bit more expensive but fairly new and on hydro Ottawa (I think, it is right on the border) with NG heat. In the winter our heating bills are over $300/month which greatly closes the gap. What does a typical suburban 2 bed condo run on NG and electricity each month?

As someone who earns significantly more than minimum wage, but am far from well off, you'll get no arguments from me that you cannot live on even $15/hr comfortably. Yet the service and retail industries we all use primarily pay minimum wage and a raise in wages would likely be offset by rises in prices and I certainly wouldn't be able to afford increases in prices on many goods and services to support that.

What was mentioned in the Article, a rise in the personal tax exemption, would probably be best. Double it even, so anyone earning minimum wage, or approximately $20k/yr pays $0 in
