So, I have a AT-LP120XUSB. I have it connected line-in to a Scarlett 18i8 (3rd Gen) using the built-in preamp in the AT. It's still pretty dang quiet. Like I've got those inputs maxed out.

Now, I know I could get a phono-preamp, connect the AT through that with the rca cables + ground in "phono" mode (rather than "line" mode), then the preamp into the Scarlett. My question is, can I use the built in preamp into a non-phono preamp then that into the Scarlett? Will that introduce noise since no ground? If no noise and will work fine, is there a reason to still get a phono-preamp and do it the ground way?

This is the non-ground preamp I'm looking at: [Preamp in question](https://www.amazon.c
