Please read. Thank you.

How does the Task work?

  • Run the Task once and take a snapshot (Tasker/database/CustomSettings.db) of the Settings database. Screenshot.
  • Change the settings on your device [You can even reboot the device if you want or need to]. Screenshot.
  • Run the Task again to Find Differences. Screenshot.

What will you get?

The user OwlIsBack passed away. I have received his "digital" legacy. While I have some experience in programming, I consider myself a beginner when it comes to Tasker. Over the next few weeks, I plan to study the Tasker documentation and, to the best of my knowledge, keep the projects that OwlIsBack shared with this community updated.

I cannot guarantee it, but I will also try to share some of his projects (his Tasker configuration contains more than 1 thousand) that he tagged as "to be shared".

If this post is inappropriate, I kindly invite the moderators to remove it. Thank you.

I scratched this basic example from one of mine Projects (it's almost the same Java that We will find in (*) Reference link). The Task, can be easily modified to be used, managed and started in different ways.

The following Task will be run (Tick Profile event) every minute and will detect noise level during (1) 55 seconds.

  • Take it as a (working) template.
    • You can change how to run it.

Per user request, I modified one of my old Tasks that I used to use to manipulate images.

With the following, We will be able to apply watermark (image/logo or text) to images/pictures even in bulk (watermark all images present in target directory). The graphic engine is in JavaScript.

Logo watermark customizations:

  • 5 sizes, based on image to watermark heigh (proportion): 0.5/10, 1/10, 2/10, 3/10, 4/10.
  • 7 positions: Center, Lower Left, Lower Right, Upper Left, Upper Right, Bottom Middle, Top Middle
  • Opacity starting from 5% up to 100% (full opaque).

Text watermark customizations:

  • All customizations above +...
  • Custom text color.

I asked to João for "green light" before posting (I posted than deleted UDP Server/Client in the past... Now they are back).

(4 separate Tasks).

Basic implementations of an UDP/Socket Server ("receiver") and a UDP/Socket Client ("sender"). Both, Server(s) and Client(s) can be exported as Tasker Child App.

  • UDP is mainly useful to send string(s)/command(s).
  • Socket is especially useful to send/transfer file(s) [no size limit].
    • Uncommented Socket Tasks, sorry (the code is self explanatory for advanced users. I'll add comments in a second time). I'm really very busy in this period. Decided to share anyway, because of users request.

  • Per user request...added an option to reset ringtone to system default for selected contacts.
  • Minor changes to Task logic.

}

I rejuvenated a little bit one of my old Tasks...With the below (thanks to Tasker's SQL Query and Java power), We will have the ability to backup/restore custom contacts ringtones.

How does It work?

If We don't have a restore configuration saved, We will have two options Backup and Reset Selected To Default Ringtone.

Backup:

  • Using SQL Query, We will retrieve all contacts having a custom ringtone.
  • The Task will save in Tasker folder a restore configuration XML file (containing cont

A basic Task to upload files (one at a time) to FTP server.

(!) Note: The below method send server login credentials in clear. So be careful, if We decide to use It on open-internet.

What do We need to use the Task?

  • Server username (A12) and password (A13).

  • IP or domain (A14) of the server.

  • The port number (A15) of the server.

  • A not restricted upload server path (A16).

Limitations:

  • No upload resume if the upload fails at some point (We can not restart the upload starting from failure point. We have to restart the upload from 0).

  • Reply code/messages from the server will not be received.

A simple Task to retrieve available (toybox) Shell commands and their help.

What is toybox?

Using the following Task, We will query toybox for commands... Than We will be able to:

  • Save selected cmd(s) and help(s) to file or clipboard.
  • Save all cmds and relative help to file.

File(s) will be saved in Tasker folder.

For users that don't want or are having difficulties using Termux way...

LADB is an open source app (source code available here) that will give Us the ability to enable ADB Wifi, without using other devices.

A WiFi network connection is required (internet access isn't mandatory).

One time only LADB (pairing) setup.

  • Connect the device to a WiFi network.

  • In Developer Settings turn on, ADB Debugging and Wireless ADB Debugging.

With the following two Tasks (plug-ins free), We will implement a basic (simplified and bare bones) Bluetooth Server ("receiver") and a Bluetooth Client ("sender"). Server and Client can be exported as Tasker Kid Apps.

What will We need to send data to another Tasker/device?

  • The MAC address of the target device (We can easily retrieve It using "Bluetooth Connection" action).
  • The UUID (We can set our own, so no "problem"...Tasker Function > GenerateUUID()).

(For apps that do not support the intent android.intent.action.SEND_MULTIPLE use this Task, please. Import link: Taskernet "Share File To App").

Using the following Task, We can share (using intent) multiple (or one) files all at once.

  • Share any kind of file.
  • Share to predefined App or show system share menu (leave %app_package blank).
  • Share to specific WhatsApp contact. (With Tasker action "Contact Via App" We can automatically call or send a message to a d

Due to an unexpected interest that one of my comments received, I thought to share some info about how to retrieve data from Content Providers using SQL Query action + details of some (using 50+, found 800+ on my actual device) Providers.

I'll try to keep explanations simple and short (We don't want to read poems ;) ), avoiding as much as possible technical terms.

  1. What is It a Content Provider?

    • It's basically a SQLite-like database, with his Columns, Rows...
  2. Do We need Root or ADB privileges to query system Content Providers?
