I've seen some consternation in this sub over the last year or so regarding ACATS fraud and Vanguard's seeming lack of options to prevent it. Some had noted it could be done with a phone call, others had said even that didn't work.

Happy to report that it appears Vanguard has made this prevention option available sometime in the last week via the website and mobile apps, under the "Outgoing transfer lock" designation. They even state that the recommendation is to always have it turned on unless you have a specific reason not to.

To enable in the app, go to your Profile -> Settings -> Security profile -> Fraud prevention tools -> Lock your account. Haven't checked the website but I assume i

In the past, Ford provided a 250kWh charging credit for Electrify America (EA) stations with all new EV purchases. This ended in June 2024. However, my Mach-E, leased in December 2024, apparently has a credit. I used an L3 station for the first time last week, it just so happened to be EA, and I was not charged. Had I known I had the credit I would have charged to a higher percentage, rather than charging just enough to make it home. So, two questions:

  1. Does anyone know why my December 2024 Mach-E has an EA

Edit: It's been more than 24 hours since I posted this, it's extremely likely the situation has changed substantially in that time. Based on what I've seen, your best bet is to ignore the websites and call your individual local stores to ask about stock.

I ran some errands over my lunch break, went to three different stores (Target, Walmart, Meijer), and all three had both SKUs of Switch 2 in stock, available for purchase. Accessories too. Walmart, in particular, had a bunch, at least eight consoles that I could see and possibly more in the back because the cabinet was full. I checked the websites when I got home and none of them were available for purchase online (Walmart showed out of sto

Title says it all. I'm a 40-year old man, ParaNorman is the only movie I watch every October without fail. Laika is well-known for their quality animation movies, I would submit that ParaNorman is easily the best of the bunch. A solid, (older) kid-friendly story that doesn’t pull its punches, some biting satire and critiques of American society and history, and a serious, valuable lesson imparted. And the climax of this movie is incredible, one of the best I’ve ever seen.

The voice acting and animation are top notch, and while stop-motion has never been my favorite, it's grown on me over the years specifically because of this movie. Finally, a fun fact: it was the first mainstream animated

Does anyone know of a location, public or private, that is offering the new COVID-19 booster for the youngest age group? Our pediatrician's office doesn't have it, and doesn't know when or if they'll have it due to questions around insurance. American healthcare FTW! I've also called the public health departments for some of the local counties and none of them have it either.

CVS/Walgreens/etc. are not an option for the youngest age group, most of them only do people 12+, and none of them do babies/toddlers.

I’m in between games currently, with nothing on the horizon until Sparks of Hope in October, so I’m looking for some inspiration.

I’m assuming that, like me, many of you have a personal Top 5 games ever (or you could come up with one relatively quickly if you gave it some thought). For me, it’s been a while since the list changed, with the latest addition being Super Mario Galaxy 2, over 12 years ago! How about you?

I suspect that, for many of you, the answer will be Zelda: Breath of the Wild and/or Super Mario Odyssey. While great games, neither are in my top 5 (or anywhere close, really, I wouldn’t even put BOTW in the top 5 Zelda games). The closest something has come on Switch has be

When I first joined Reddit and this community, one of the first things that struck me was how seemingly beloved Twilight Princess was. It surprised me because I have always considered it the worst 3D Zelda, by a large margin. Over time, I came to realize that it seems like many people first played through it on GameCube or the HD version on WiiU, whereas I have only ever played the Wii version.

While my issues with the game extend far beyond the controls, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the waggle controls left something to be desired, and definitely dragged down my impression of it significantly. It always made me laugh that people complained about Skyward Sword’s controls but se

For about a week now, smartd has been reporting that /dev/ada2 has "Currently unreadable (pending) sectors". I have run multiple long S.M.A.R.T tests against this drive, but they all report "Completed without error". Any other way I can find the bad sectors in order to zero them out and reallocate?

Here are the most recent test results:

root@freenas:~ # smartctl -a /dev/ada2
