But my partner is hesitant because it's a category on Amazon. I think by the time our daughter is school-aged or anything there will be a different category. I wouldn’t name my daughter Sports Equipment intentionally but I’m hoping this one might be a little different. What do you guys think?

SophEYEa and MaEYEa (Sophia Maria)

:nerd: Character/Fictional Names

I was curious when the pronunciation of these names changed, given that the Regency period used the longer vowel sound.

The traditional British English pronunciations /məˈraɪə/ (Mariah) and /soʊˈfaɪə/ (So-fy-uh) fell out of standard use during the mid-20th century. The shift away from the "long I" sound toward the Continental /i/ sound (like Maria and Sophia) was heavily driven by increased international travel, the popularity of foreign cultural figures like Sophia Loren, and the perception of the names as "foreign" rather than traditional English.

Here is how the transition occurred:

  • The Jane Austen Era: In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was standard in English high society t

I still can't get over the sex positivity post, which really seemed to be about pump-and-dump. It had more than 100 upvotes.

I don't want to be just a hole to someone. Sex doesn't work that way for me. Yes, **it's fun**, but that's not all it is. I don't like being branded a prude if I want to at least like the person I go to bed with and know them well enough to not worry about P&D or STDs. That takes time.

It's been several days and I'm still shaken. Turning off the apps. Surely all the men out there can't believe sex is the price of admission to get a second date?

At least the guy said what he really thought, and others clearly agreed. It was an aha moment for me. Maybe

I was struck by how many names on the change in popularity SS list end in O for boys (these are ranking / 2023 / 2024). Wonder if any of these will come into wider usage.

Very small study, but still intriguing.

> Analyzing tissue samples collected from 10 patients with prostate cancer, the research team identified plastic particles in 90 percent of tumor samples and 70 percent of benign tissue samples.

In addition, the cancerous tissue contained on average 2.5 times the amount of plastic as the healthy prostate tissue samples (about 40 micrograms of plastic per gram of tissue compared with 16 micrograms per gram).

Had an awesome time in CR. Stayed at The Springs for three days and, during that time, I found a roll of money. I asked the couple above me in the hot spring if they had lost it. Of course they said yes.

Why the hell didn't I ask them to identify something about it? Thinking they ended up paying for their vacation day with someone else's money because I was stupid and trusting.

Volvo has 21k and $30k. The Subaru has 35k miles and is $25k.

I drive very little so the limitations of an electric car aren't a problem. However, the axle issue and the discontinued model make me worry. The Subaru is safe but boring.

I watched this little baby from birth. Fed it raspberries by throwing them in the hosta where it lived. Gave it clean water every day. It grew bigger, even though its siblings were picked off one by one.

Now it's just dead. No reason I can see. Just laying on the ground without a mark.

I don't want to touch it but I need to bury or bin it. I forget for a little bit and then it comes jolting back. Each time I pass the patio window I'm hurt all over again.

It was as soft as I imagined when I touched it to make sure it was dead. It's just gone and I don't understand.

I've had a few "ethical non-monogamy" guys who admitted it on the first date, but a couple weeks ago I had a date with a guy who lives an hour away, but visits his mom near the town where I live. Met for coffee, had a nice time.

He asked to see me again and I asked if we could exchange Facebook profiles first. He said yes, but then disappeared.

Was that asking too much after meeting in person? Is it considered provocative to say "hey, there are a lot of scammers and married dudes out there so I like to exchange social media info."

I trust my gut and don't care that he ghosted, but was curious to know if anyone has a better way to filter out the married guys without offending potential sec
