I've completed the (initial) HAT plotline and have Dal Busta in my PHQ. But the option to talk to him about the Paranid civil war is greyed out with a message that I must be neutral or better with one party and allied with the other.

But acording to the egosoft confluence page, you can start the paranid plot as long as you're neutral with both factions.

Did it change? Having to get allied with one party and stay neutral with the other seems like an annoyingly high bar so I hope I'm just missing something obvious. It's going to stop my from doing a bunch of Arg vs HOP missions for

So I've been doing a rewatch of Community, and just watched Competitive Ecology, where the group ends up ranking each other and have Abed pair the best lab partners together.

Long story short, I decided to procrastinate my actual job and wrote a simple script to brute force lab pairings based on fake ranking ballots from our group members. In order to determine the best rankings, we have to have a metric to determine what "best" means, so I implemented a couple of simple ones, including Abed's "audience appeal" metric.

A while ago -- a few months, I think -- a blog post was submitted here from a mathematician, detailing his exploration of some concept he'd always been a little fuzzy on. It was also something I was interested in, so I read what was available but it was a part 1 post and the followups hadn't been posted yet.

I want to go back and read it now, but I remember none of the details. I don't even remember what area of math it was anymore, so that makes it kind of hard to hunt back down.

I'm not sure what I did or if it was just an update, but DBM now shows me timer or cast bars (not sure which) in the open world, for random players who just happen to be near by.

I don't have a screenshot, but I'll just be wandering around a regular zone, and suddenly see a bar for what I can only assume is a cast that's very important to a random Pally 100 yards away.

Does anyone know what causes this and what setting I can change to get rid of notices like this for solo, overworld content?

I tried checking the DBM guides but nothing mentions it.
