I’m nervous and could be overthinking. But would love your thoughts here - thanks in advance!!

While I’m headed to the final round interview at this nonprofit, I was in a virtual panel interview and it seemed like the panelist asked if I was using AI during the interview. I can’t remember if he said “are you using” or “do you use” — to make it seem like a legit question. It would be relevant to the work I do, but I wasn’t expecting it. Especially since I was using my notes as a crutch up until that point.

He said he only asked because he was saying she loves ChatGPT, and coaches lacrosse and noticed a bent stick this week. (??) I have no idea what that has to do with anything.

I was jus

Hello there, I’ve had a few procedures done this year that took up a lot of my money unexpectedly. I didn’t know this resource existed but I’m glad it does because it’s honestly worth it to ask for help and I’m trying not to be ashamed of it.

I need $250 by tomorrow morning or my building will take action against me. If there’s any way you’re able to help with that amount or a portion of it, it is appreciated! I will be able to pay it back in a month as I get paid toward the end of the month and I have another surgery I’m getting then as well. Thank you in advance!

I saw a Marvin Gaye musical is coming to select cities this fall. Anyone going? Or know the production company putting it on? I don’t know if it’s run before in the past/folks have seen it already but as a fellow DC native, I’m happy MG is getting this recognition and plan to go!

GM! I am coming at you live with a third/revised version of my query letter and although it’s 350 words without personalization, I feel better about how this attempt flows than the last (you can find it here). If anyone has any corrections or feedback on this version though, I’m willing to hear it! Thank you in advance :)

I’ll specify BIPOC in the query letter later, but I added some texture that didn’t exist before as well. I focused on centering the school tuition crisis upfront alongside how Alice changes as a result of focusing on finding a solution to it amid everything else at home going on, which leads to her cry for help that begs her

Hiiii I’m looking for community classes that specialize in stretching and pelvic floor exercises to find a good fit to fix my posture! Please send good recs :) I’m new to the area and live in DTLA but open to other nearby areas if possible!

Hii I’m planning a gathering in Chi (I’m out of state and have visited a few times) after a cruise tour but I’m like why do I keep seeing the same like six (RPM Seafood, Pizza Portofino [already have Italian in another spot for the weekend so don’t want to choose it twice], River Roast [which seems viable but was looking for a variety of options], I think a steakhouse as well) aside from the occasional rooftop bar? I figure that can’t be it. Lol.

I am wondering if natives have any recs and if Google is lying to me while I continue to do my research!

Hiii there!

I’m in the process of querying agents to be a traditionally published author of fiction works, but I decided over the weekend to jot down some thoughts in planning an essay collection I want to write as well.

My outreach to agents so far have been to those who represent both fiction and nonfiction work. But I’m curious about journalists here who may be agented authors and have traditionally published an essay collection?

The one thing I see about getting agents to publish an essay collection is ensuring you have a platform that makes people care about anything you have to say. I assume that advice is not for those who are journalists since we have published work going up and o

Hi! I’m sharing a query letter draft to Reddit (the past two times were in PT) for this project. I plan to post my 500-word synopsis in the coming days as well since my goal is to start my outreach to agents mid-Sept. Also, I’ll be specifically disclosing my BIPOC identity in the official query letter.

Good morning AGENT,

I am excited to present my adventure of an upper middle grade contemporary novel set against metropolitan Boston, ALICE IS ALMOST EVERYTHING, complete at 45,000 words. It is as a love letter to the BIPOC parentified eldest daughter but will appeal to fans of the overachieving mindset centered in Keeping Pace by Laurie Morrison, the alive-and-breathing city landscape a

For years, I thought I needed to query a new agent every time I wrote a new book I wanted to traditionally publish. But I see now that agents generally stick with you for your entire career.

So if this is the case, does an agent who wants to offer representation just decide based on that single specific manuscript and query letter without knowing what else the author is working on/if the genres are in their wheelhouse?

When personalizing a query letter, is it crucial to detail why the book I’m sending them AND what else is in my pipeline to further convince them to represent me for my entire career? Or just the former? If so, how long should this section of the query letter be?

I have a
