Do people have a foundational and/or genetically ingrained need for purpose beyond fulfilling basic animal survival urges?

If the sense of purpose is more than the fulfillment of basic animal survival urges, is it just a logical evolution of those urges because of our advanced brain development?

Do men have a distinctly unique purpose from women and vice versa?

What are the psychological, intellectual, and physiological effects of having no purpose either through choice or coercion?

Thanks for considering my questions.

It seems like every third post on Reddit has to do with Trump and his transition choices. The posts are usually meant to ignite some sort of emotional response (the op posts may be bot posts, but they get a lot of comments). The posts work and get thousands of upvotes and comments. The comments are often incredulous or trying to argue how some outlandish cabinet posting that Trump’s team has made can’t or shouldn’t happen.

It doesn’t really matter who the cabinet posting are. It’s not like Trump did a great job picking his postings the first time around. The posting either will or won’t happen. It doesn’t matter.

What DOES matter is that the public remember the core issues. The stagnant m

I (43/m) am an adult. I am a Caucasian and a Protestant Christian. I am a father. I am a husband. I am a political moderate. I am a community member. I am a person who has been called to work with both special needs children and adults.

I am also dealing with the challenges of treatment resistant chronic depression, generalized anxiety, recently diagnosed ADHD, a struggling marriage, few friendships, a weak support network, and the cognitive dissonance of my imaginings for this stage of life not matching the reality.

Perhaps some of you that choose to read this post can relate to some of what I’ve written so far.

However. Regardless of what I am, and regardless of what I challenges I am f

Fearing Presidents

Opinion: In the aftermath of last night’s election, I have been reading many posts from a wide variety of subreddits. They have not been hard to find and they all have a common thread to them. People are afraid. Things did not turn out as they expected them to, and now they are afraid. They are sharing their fears here on Reddit in the hope of finding connection, reassurance, answers, and in many cases, someone to blame.

Now, I am one of the people surprised by the events of last night (Though in retrospect, I don’t know why I should be.) However, I’m not looking for connection, reassurance, answers, or people to blame. I have just one dominating opinion that I wanted t

If so, for how long? How did you do it? Did having a career affect your friendships? What about getting married? What about starting a family? What about moving?

I (43/m) think I am the loneliest I have ever been in my life. I don’t think I have a single physical relationship that doesn’t include somebody wanting something from me, but being unable to give me what I want or need in return. I have a wife who tells me she loves me and tells me she wants to remain married to be, but doesn’t want sex or much physical affection. She also seems to contrive ways to spend as little time in the same room with me as possible. I’m not abusive or negligent, but I am depressed and it’s not going away de

My lil guy Buddy has a couple of peculiar behaviors that I hoped you fellow Shihpoo owners might be familiar with.

  1. When he is excited and/or happy, he tends to rapidly tuen himself clockwise. He’s not chasing his tail or anything, he’s just twisting in clockwise circles until he begins to calm down again. He’s even walks whole twisting clockwise until he calms down again. Why does he do this and why is it ALWAYS clockwise?

  2. Buddy will either obsessively like one of my hands or for his FAVORITE target which is my nose. It’s always just the nose (sometimes there are exceptions when he licks the eye sockets or side of my neck, but these are rare occurrences) and he could busy himself lic
