Hi I crossposted this in planted tanks sub but my main concern at this point is ensuring no NZM snails so wanted to check w this sub.

I’ve quarantined my new plants with light and ferts for almost 3 weeks now. Just a few pond snails, which I actually love snails so np. No sign of NZM snails.

I’ve read about the reverse respiration method here with seltzer but that shouldn’t be necessary at this point? Any NZM snails would be obvi now? Do I pull out/save the cute pond snails and do the overnight seltzer rr treatment anyway?

I can’t think of any other reason not to transfer the plants to their tanks now? Trying to learn what I’m actually checking for before putting anything new in my tanks

Hi, I have 2 fancies and currently have anubias barteri and java fern planted. Franklin likes to hide behind the fern leaves and I was thinking about getting vals to add to background for a reedy look and places for him to nest in but 1. It seems you have to frequently trim runners to keep it from overtaking tank? And 2. Seems to need root tabs which idk if they would dig up and eat?

Should I get some thinner leaf anubias or swords (but swords need root tabs too?)? Kind of wanted taller plants though.

I keep anachris/elodea floating on top for them which means lower light too. Still learning the balance of conditions for happy fish and happy plants

I have sand substrate so also need way

Hi all, need some help. Setup new tank in Jan for fancy goldie pair rehomed from my son moving out of state. Got them 40 gal (biggest I could afford and at least is min for them), sponge filter and Fluval HOB 110. Have had it 3 months and the motor is grinding. Took it apart, wasn’t that dirty; cleaned and scrubbed it. Still grinding. What I could find in research is maybe air got in the motor?? But can’t find if that is fixable?? (Beyond banging it a few times, which in desperation last night, I tried 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Considering it cost $100 I’m pretty frustrated. Basically costs that much to replace just the motor from Fluval w shipping. ($75-80) Not really wanting to buy another Fluval although c
