Do you still listen to Taylor Swift?

General Music Discussion

I was going to do a poll, but for some reason, it won't let me do one at the moment.

My feelings on Taylor Swift have become increasingly complicated over the past two years. Around 2023 during Swiftmania, I would have called myself a "casual Swiftie". The release of Red and 1989 were essential building blocks to my interest in pop music and pop music criticism growing up. I really enjoyed Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights. Even today, I still consider some of her songs to be among the best pop music of the 21st century.

But since the release of TTPD and especially TLOAS, my feelings on Taylor and her music have soured. TLOAS was especially bad and showed sides of Taylor's personality that

I hope this isn't a stupid question; Todd seemed to imply at the end of the worst list video that there wouldn't be a best list this year.

"OK, I know what you're thinking: 'Gosh, that was even crankier than usual, Todd. Don't you have anything good to say?' Uh, no, not really. This was an awful year. [sponsor transition] But I can tell you at least one decent thing that happened in 2025 - but, you know, not in music, just in general."

In the recent Mario Party 5 video, Sophist mocks a viewer who used to keep track of who won/lost their Mario Party games. This happened last year, and the viewer stopped as soon as they said they were uncomfortable with it, so I don't get why they're making fun of that person months later.

Brent has also started mocking fans and commenters, usually validly to bad-faith criticism and insults towards them, but I'm worried it sets a pattern where they can just shut down any future criticism by mocking them.

Found this gem last year and instantly fell in love with it -- a feel-good homage to '60s girl group pop written by Kirsty MacColl of "Fairytale of New York" fame. Peaked at #8 in the US and #1 in the UK in 1983.

Tracey Ullman is of course a famous comedian and actress, but considering that Todd has covered people like Eddie Murphy and Toni Basil on the show before, I think she could qualify.

Before anyone says anything: I have supported a ceasefire and relief for Palestinians for over a year now, days after October 7th and Israel initiating the war/genocide in Gaza. I also believe Netanyahu should be removed from office and charged with genocide and war crimes. DO NOT ACCUSE ME OF BEING A ZIONIST BECAUSE OF THIS POST.

But I also think October 7th was a tragedy, that Hamas should also be held accountable for said attack, and that arguments for collapsing Israel and a one-state solution are naive and unrealistic.

Ignoring conspiracy theories I have seen accusing Israel of faking October 7th, I don't think it's okay to say things like "Israel deserved it" and "that's what they ge

I'm 21 and a college grad from the US, so I don't know if I can consider myself "young" anymore.

But I still hear stories from high school- and college-aged LGBTQ+ people about interactions they've had with older queer people who say they have no right to complain about their struggles because "they have it easier" and "why are you worried? It's 2024!"

I HATE it so fucking much. I graduated high school a few years ago, and in some ways, I feel like queer teens - especially trans and gender nonconforming ones - have it worse now than I was a teen. The rising homophobic and transphobic rhetoric, the demonization of teachers and the education system, the increasing amount of hate crimes - I d

"Though people say love is everywhere, I'm looking for love, but it's just not there"

I discovered I was bi at a young age, and all I wanted in high school was to fall in love. I was afraid of coming out due to my family and high school being very conservative. I came out to my friends at 16 and in general at 17.

There were many openly queer girls at my school, but only like two openly queer guys. I didn't know any girls or guys who liked me. On top of my senior year being ruined by the pandemic, I ended up having no love life in high school.

In the almost four years since, I have only ever been on one date, when I was 20 with one of the best guys I've ever met. He was my first kiss. We
