I picked up some 125 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips for my 300 Blackout because I apparently have no self control. I started going through the load data to see where to start and ran into something interesting/confusing.
I have the Nosler manual, the Western Powders manual, and looked at Hodgdon's website.
The website & the Western manual show the exact same data (charge weight, pressure, velocity) for several powders, except the COAL. The website shows 2.060" and the Western manual says 2.165"
The website shows the 2.060" COAL for all of the Hodgon powders as well. The Nosler manual also lists a COAL of 2.060".
I know it's not uncommon to have different charge ranges in different manuals,
I stumbled into a youtube video about the GAP Grind several months ago and decided that it would be an awesome opportunity to try and attend. I took time off work and am planning to sign up.
In reading the information on their website, it seems like the spots go pretty quick, especially if you're signing up solo. So I figured it can't hurt to reach out and see if there are any Pros that are planning on going this year that don't already have a (very) amateur partner.
I have been meaning to get into PRS for a couple of years now. I built myself a very fancy rifle over black friday, but life kept getting in the way so I have yet to actually attend a match yet. I might be able to make it to r
I just moved into a new house and finally get to build myself by end all be all reloading bench. I did some research and think I have figured out what I want to do, but this is very far from my area of expertise so I wanted to get some input from you folks.
I want to build the bench into the end/corner of the room. It is 12 feet wide. I want the bench to go the full length and then also come out 4-6 feet on one end to make an L shaped bench. I am thinking of using 1.5 inch thick countertop (25ish inches deep) finished butcher block for the bench surface. I would bolt a 2x6 along the wall and then screw the back of the butcher block into it. Then screw another 2x6 under the front lip of the
I took my DD5v4 out to the range this weekend to test out a new load. I also need to re-zero the scope because the turrets got spun, so I used some plinking rounds I had thrown together to do that first. Said rounds had issues probably 15/20. The spent brass would get stuck in the ejection port between the bolt and next round, which was only halfway into the chamber. I would have to drop the mag, pry the spent casing out of the ejection port, then send the bolt home and re-insert the magazine. Was very frustrating.
This rifle has never had this problem before. It shot my "precision" loads just fine (and got very nice group to boot I might add) immediately after. It has no issues with factor
If you have access to ExpertVoice the Athlon Cronus BTR Gen 2 4.5-29x56 is on huge sale right now. It's only the APRS1 MIL reticle variant though.
I am looking to put together a custom rifle that I can assemble myself. I have a decent budget ($5-7k ish), but don’t want to throw money at stuff just for the sake of doing it either. This will be strictly a target shooting rifle, used for PRS and maybe benchrest style stuff. I am not in any hurry to do this. Unless you guys tell me it’s a bad idea, I might be buying things a part at a time when I find them in stock/on sale over the next several months.
My current setup is a Howa 1500 in an Oryx chassis with an Athlon Ares BTR. I’ve taken it out to 1000 yards.
Proposed parts list:

I have a PDP Pro-X Full size on order. I know it doesn't come with an optics plate. I want to order one in advance so I don't have to wait the 4-6 weeks it takes to get the free one from Walther.
Is there any chance that a PDP Pro-X has the 1.0 optic footprint? Or since it's a pretty new model am I safe assuming it will be the 2.0 optic footprint?
