I adopted a kitten, who is now 5 months old. We have a minimum of two long, vigorous playtimes each day, and my house could be called House of Cat Trees and Scratching Posts. It could also be called House of Sticky Paws, as the kitchen counters and tables are covered by Sticky Paws or foil.

Jackson Galaxy has a video recommending SSSCat Automatic Spray Pet Deterrent as a training tool. I bought two, thinking I’d try them out on the dining room table, but reading the warning on the side of the box gives me pause. If it’s unsafe for me, what about a kitten? I can’t decide whether to use them or return them to Amazon.

Has anyone used this to train your cats? Do you think it’s safe to use? Di

I just bought a row counter chain. Such a smart tool, but I haven’t been able to decide how best to use it. I’ve tried keeping the number below the right needle as the row already done, but I can’t decide whether to dangle it to the left or the right, or whether to have the undone numbers dangle on the wrong side vs. both ends on the right side. I’m knitting in the round. And, I admit it doesn’t take much to “confyoose” me. If you use a row counter chain, how do you keep it straight in your head? Thanks much for the loan of your brain cells.

Button, button…

Help-not a pattern request

Hello all,

I’m currently knitting the Meredith Dress by Ruth Maddock for my little granddaughter. The yarn is King Cole cotton bamboo in a lovely blue they call teal. The dress calls for four buttons on the back, but as fabric shops have gone the way of the (insert name of out dated technology here) I have no idea where to find buttons, especially since the color I need is not common.

I was thinking maybe I could make my own buttons somehow. A quick google search mentions using polymer clay, resin or Shrinky Dinks. Does anyone have any experience with these methods?

Thanks for your help. As always, I greatly appreciate you. 🙏🏻

Hello lovely knitters,

This may be a dumb question but, but what the heck, let’s just go for it.

Would two gauge swatches in the same yarn but different colors have different gauges? Does something about dying a purple vs a pink, for example, cause a difference in gauge swatches?

I’m swatching in 50/50 bamboo cotton and I want to swatch using a color I’m not using in this project. I know I can reclaim the yarn from the swatches, but I want to avoid the extra loose ends I’ll have to weave in if I do that.

Thanks for the loan of your brain cells. They are surely less fried than mine. 🤪

Hello all,

I’m finally getting around to organizing my sadly neglected stash. I have a couple of skeins’ worth of used or tangled 50/50 cotton bamboo yarn from failed projects. My goal today is to frog, detangle, & hank or cake the yarn. (Maybe an all-day project!)

I’m wondering whether I should cake or hank the yarn. Is one or the other better given the qualities of this type of yarn?

As always, thanks for your help.

Hi everyone, I think I’ve almost figured it out, but if I’m missing anything, could you fill in the blanks for me?

Knitting a child’s cardigan top down. The pattern has you put the sleeve stitches on a holder & finish the body, then knit the sleeves in the round, leaving the underarm open. You have to sew the underarm seam at the end. (This may be common practice, I don’t know. It’s only my second sweater)

I want to pick up the underarm stitches and knit the entire sleeve in the round, leaving no seaming.

I’m thinking when I take the stitches off the holders I can count up the underarm stitches, pick those up, mark the center, and knit the entire sleeve in one fell swoop.
