As it is it basically is just "poke around aimlessly". If it had a questline dedicated to discovering WHY the universe is completely empty, it would be great.
For example, you wake up with no memory as usual. You do the same "repair scanner, find starship" thing, but when you leave the planet, something is... wrong. There are no comms anywhere, all channels are silent, no ships in sight, no fauna on any other planet, even lush ones.
So you immediately head to the local space station... And find it derelict. You do find a garbled final record indicating SOMETHING happened, along with the blueprints for the terrain manipulator, base computer, hyperdrive and warp cells (plus related ingre
First, is it just me or so long as you don't reset or warp away, your entire starter system is normally populated? I managed to catalog every lifeform on 5 of the 6 starter planets, with the 6th one being a dead world. But when i came back, everything on all but one planet was extinct...
Secondly, making a base in a Colossal Archive is a smart idea. It gives you access to a lot of commodities - map printing, a galactic trader, the exchange vaults and a ton of landing pads. Judicious use of holograms can also still make it feel very alive 😅
Third: Companions are great to feel less lonely. 😅
Fourth: somehow, Oceanus being so busy crunching numbers for his Xeno Arena team he didn't
Imagine my surprise when Iteration: Oceanus was on the Anomaly. At the literal end of this universe, he's still there patiently waiting for a challenger at Xeno Arena...
Somehow, it makes total sense.
I'm undecided, should I play Abandoned, Survival, Permadeath or a mix of Abandoned and one of the other two?
I recently decided to make a base on a paradise planet in the second system I visited, using an existing Vy'keen observatory. Having a neighbor to talk to is nice, and the buildable area is huge due to the observatory being a big one with two extra wings (requiring Atlas passes to access). I made a landing pad for my starship, a prefab for the teleporter and one storage cube, and built a few decorations inside the observatory itself. Looks nice, just wondering if anyone else does this?
I have an entire solar system with planets one creature away from being complete that will never happen thanks to that dumb bug, and IT ISN'T EVEN THE FIRST TIME EXTINCT CREATURES BREAK COMPLETION. You'd think that when they are tinkering with ONE specific creature (to make it a reward), at least they would pay attention not to break anything else, especially given all the precedents, but nope...

reddit.comI'm looking for one but so far no luck... If anyone has coordinates to one, in Sentinel pillars, Harmonic camps or even just minor settlements, I'd appreciate it....
Crank hostility up to 11. Permanent extreme storms, aggressive Sentinels, all wildlife hostile with no exception, frequent extreme weather events, frequent pirate raids on installations, and - most importantly - hostile NPCs on the ground - Vy'keen, Korvax, Gek, even autophages.
Make it a meat grinder where only the bravest go. Kinda like Catachan in Warhammer 40k. Only for true warriors, pathetic interloper cowards need not apply. 😅
Just curious about what people still want out of NMS. Aside from obvious bug fixes, of course (like the S class settlements thing).
For me, just three things:
-the ability to take over abandoned space stations, clean them up, and make them functional - it would be a perfect place for the NPCs you can recruit, too.
-the ability to class upgrade freighters
-actual stellar mass black hole systems ("destroyed" tag, different from abandoned and uncharted) - all planets are constantly almost dark, with just a reddish glow from the accretion disc, and there is radiation everywhere - even the starship doesn't fully protect you, only the freighter does. The space station is destroyed, all planets
I'm hoping for more Redux of old expeditions, only missing a few to complete my collection of old materials.
They are actually worse than Digimon you scan yourself. They do start with 25 talent, but they've otherwise got 100% scan stats (they don't start with the extra 100HP that a 200% scanned Digimon gets).
If you want to make your starter feel special for RP purposes, making it suck compared to others definitely isn't the right way... In light of this you are almost better off ditching the starter entirely and building your own from scratch using Digimon you scan in the Government Building. I'm thinking of doing just that - convert a 200% scan Kuramon and raise it from scratch. Let's just pretend what Operator gave you was a Digiegg from one of the first 3 Baby Digimon you meet in the game...
