Like, I get how Runeterra Open Qualifying and the main event work, but how many people does Riot expect to enter an event that they just can't do a giant swiss phase? Heck, I'd be willing to pay to play in an actual open tournament, no extended gauntlets or qualifiers to enter, just everyone playing through Swiss before a top cut. I don't get the whole everyone needs too go through a gauntlet to enter any open.

So I removed a phone number from my discord account and was forced to re-verify the account immediately, but when I reinput the same number, the number does not go through and as marked as being used on another(read: this very) account

Is the number just on cooldown?
