I’m in need of some advice. We have a metal barn (2, actually, one with sides and one without, 30x30 and 30x40, both with running water, power and a concrete slab).
My wife works out of town and in lieu of packing up and moving, we’re interested in enclosing part of one of these buildings as a living space for a couple of nights a week if it’s cost effective. Oh, it’s on 50 acres that won’t be sold in our lifetimes. (Family land). After she retires in 5-6 years, we’d like to use it as an occasional weekend getaway type of place. I’m already retired.
I’m trying to get a handle of how much it would cost to enclose half? This is a cost issue so we’re not interested in special doors, windows
We’re thinking about putting a tiny home on some family land and we’ll only be using it a couple of nights per week. Maybe 400 ft or less, depends on what we can afford. We want to keep it simple and as low cost as possible. We already have a metal barn with a slab floor, running water, and power; no septic system but have considered a composting toilet. We don’t need hookups for a washer dryer but probably will just have a small refrigerator, stove, AC. Do ya’ll think we could do this for $20,000 or so?
I’ll try to condense our situation as much as possible and we’re seeking advice.
- I’m retired and my wife has been working out of town (2 hrs away) and staying with relatives for a couple of years (couple of nights each week). But we’re in our 60s and this is beginning to take a toll on her. She has 5 years until age 67 and we hope she can retire then.
- Rather than sell or rent our house and completely move, we’ve thought about putting a tiny home on some family land about 40 minutes from her work (50 acres).
- We’ve been looking at prefab homes on Amazon for some ideas. If we decide to do this, we’ll use it for 5-7 years for working and then will use it as a weekend getaway place af
A couple of days ago, I posted some bulletin points about things that bothered me about the show and although most of you poked holes in my points, it sure was fun discussing the show. One question I thought of; I never really got an idea of how big Harlan was (population wise). I know in real life it’s about 2000 people. Another thing I thought of is how no one at Noble’s Holler seemed to know Raylan or Boyd. Errol and those two should have known each other because they looked similar in age. In such a small town, even if you’re not exactly friends, you know everyone because you went to the same school. And they always talked about baseball but I taught and coached in a place similar to
My wife & I are on our 5th watch and enjoying it immensely and we’re toward the end of Season 2 and even though it’s my all-time favorite and nothing will change that, I’ve started noticing some pretty big plot holes and then I’ll throw in my take on a couple of things.
- I like Art and he reminds me a lot of me. But in Sesson 2, he’s a gigantic asshole to Raylan. He made some smartass comment about hugging it out and something about Raylan and the relationship with his father that was totally uncalled for. I think Raylan was wanting to explain to Art what happened to the money.
- In later seasons, I think they kinda drifted away from how much Loretta cared about Raylan and likewise. Fo
