I was thinking I was waiting for some sort of sign or some sort of switch to flip to tell me I was ready. I don't think such a thing exists. I was finally sick of pitying myself and decided to make it happen. Downloaded an app and made a profile. I've been on two dates with two different women and it's honestly really fun. Conflicted feelings for sure but it feels normal.

It’s September 15 but it feels like fall has come early to Victoria. The leaves on my maple tree have turned and are falling, the air is crisp, school has started again - all signs of the changing seasons.

My beautiful wife, my best friend, the mother of my child, left this existence in October. Last fall was a nightmare of us finding out the cancer had spread to her lungs, finding out that immunotherapy wasn’t working, finding out that her liver was failing and she was terminal.

It’s been 11 months since she died. And my heart has broken into pieces, and the pieces keep breaking into smaller pieces. I’ve said probably 1000 times that I don’t think I can keep going, that I can’t bear this

I’m a single dad to a 21 month old son. My wife died in October when she was 36 and our son was not quite 1. This morning I took him to the playground and I could overhear a couple of other parents chatting about the trips they’ve been on with their kids - Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, etc. We only took two trips together, a road trip and a visit to family. We’d been planning to go to Hawaii when my wife was in remission - but that never happened.

It’s the Olympics right now and I wish so badly that we could have gone, or that she was here making me tape the equestrian events for her. And mostly I just feel so bitter, that other people get to go on and have fun and be normal happy families… and I’

I am 37 years old, father of an almost two-year-old boy, and I have been widowed since last October when cancer took my wife from me.

Even when she was alive, we didn't get to have the usual newborn, new parents, family time... because she was diagnosed right after our son was born. I was caring for a six week old baby while she was getting chemo. I was dropping everything at work to come home and take her to the hospital when her symptoms were bad. I spent the whole year being her caretaker... and then she died.

Now I have to work all day. I work fulltime, I'm in management so I have lots of workers that I have to take care of. I also have to take care of my son when he's not in daycare.

Hi,

I set up a system on the weekend to provide water to 4 raised planting beds. The beds are 4' by 6' and are arranged in a 2 by 2 grid.

My system is like this - at the edge of one of the beds I have a hose connector with a vacuum breaker and a 25 PSI regulator. That connects to a tee. Running off of the tee is two lengths of 1/2" tubing, each supplying water to one of the rows of beds. There are valves at each end of the runs of 1/2" tubing to cap it off. So basically my system looks like the letter Y, or like a fork with two tines.

Branching off of the 1/2" tubing I have poked in a bunch of 1/4" tubing, and the tubing is feeding some little sprayer heads. The heads are supposed to cove

This is a weird new symptom I think. Lately I just can’t believe that she’s gone. Intellectually I know she’s gone. I was there. There in the hospital. I know she isn’t here because I haven’t seen her in 7 months and I’m slowly tidying up her things.

But sometimes I’ll catch a picture of her and I just can’t believe that she isn’t here. Like it feels like a cruel prank and that she’s just been hiding somewhere for months now.

I feel like I’ve been handling my grief really well lately but now I just keep having this weird sensation like I don’t fully believe that it’s real. And I don’t understand it. Is it because she died young? Does this happen to anyone else?

I order in dinner once a week or so, and I have lots of credit with Skip and DoorDash.

The past 4-5 times, my food has showed up 20-40 minutes later than the app said, and it’s usually room temperature. I don’t get it. I’m tipping, I’m paying the service fees, they’re small orders (2-3 items) and I’m not ordering from anywhere more than 5 km away.

I’m getting to the point where I’m just going to have to start doing takeout, which is a pain because I’m a single dad to a toddler so I have to bring him with me.

I get that ordering delivery is a luxury but I am paying for it, and I don’t understand why all of a sudden the service on the delivery apps is terrible.

Has anyone else noticed this

I met my wife 10 years ago, online. We had coffee together and it was the best first date of my life. I told her I loved her for the first time 4 months later, and we were engaged within a year of meeting. We had the big fancy wedding, the amazing honeymoon, you name it. We were happy.

Now I’m 36 and I’m alone again. Not alone, because I have a one year old who is currently teething and has diaper rash and I love him so much, but he’s so needy. I wanted to grow old together with my wife. She was my one and only. This is a place that I can admit that while I’m sad and upset about my wife not being here anymore - I’m also mad about what I lost. I lost my love story. I lost my companion. I los

It’s my first Christmas without her. Married 8 years, she died October 18 from cancer. We have a one year old baby.

Yesterday I went to a friend’s parents’s house for their extended family potluck. Everyone was really nice and they obviously all knew my situation and were really respectful and stuff, which was nice. Tonight I’m having dinner with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. I don’t know what exactly I’m doing on Christmas Day.

I miss her so much. We loved Christmas. We would make calendars of all the events we wanted to do, we’d go to Christmas plays and concerts and the ballet…

I just want to send peace and strength to everyone else on this subreddit. I hope whatever your holid
