So, the pattern has long been a Merc game that's a sandbox, and a clans game that's more linear. What if PGI did something different, and did a story driven IS campaign? I think it'd be cool to play as a great house commander, fighting with your regiment through a succession war campaign, dealing with political infighting and plotting, with comstar in the background pulling even more strings. We get a little bit of it in the Mercs DLCs, esp. Kestrel Lancers, but with cutscenes and more character development, I think it would be really cool.

I'm really interested to hear how the mechlab is going to work in the new DLC once you start getting clan weapons. Are the ER larges going to fit in a medium hardpoint? Will they be sort of an energy Heavy Rifle, where the cycle rate is slow, but damage is off the charts and it fits in a smaller hardpoint? Because that would do some wild stuff with some of the IS hardpoint configs. A Battlemaster with a whole rack of clan ER-LLs? Sign me up, that sounds hilarious. The banshee 3S would be crazy too. And it would turn the Blackjack 1X into a mini Nova with a pile of clan ER-MLs.
I'm not even done with clans, but I already know what I want from the DLCs:
- New campaigns from different clans' perspective
- New game plus where you start with fully leveled everything and play the campaign through, but with more, bigger enemies to balance it out.
The first one I'd happily pay $20-$30 for, if they're the same length as the SJ campaign.
So I've been having issues with crashing on my desktop with both Mercs and Clans. I'll be playing along normally, and the screen will go black. Audio will continue for like 30 seconds, then it just stays locked up. I end up having to hard reboot. Other games don't seem to have the same issue, but both mercs and clans crash in exactly the same way, clans quite a bit faster. Played hours of Cyberpunk recently, no problem. Can't even finish a mission in Clans. Graphics drivers and Win11 updated. Intel 10th gen i7, 3060ti, 32GB.
Is the special Timberwolf worth the cost, i.e. an especially good configuration, and is it immediately available in game?
I'm helping a local music non-profit get some old tape decks working so they can start recoding demo tapes for local bands. It sounds like they're just a little dirty and need some cleaning, (reverse doesn't work consistently, play speed is inconsistent) but I wanted to ask around about what cleaners and lubricants I should use. I can only find a user manual online, no shop manuals so far. I was thinking 99% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning, since it should be safe for the electronics if any spills, and should clean effectively. For lubricant, I'm less certain. I have some teflon lube made for mountain bikes that should be plastic compatible, but I'm fine throwing a few bucks at a specialized
So I'm going to take the contrary position- that was a lot of fun and incredibly well-done. I sympathize with the complaint that it was really different from the rest of the game, but I thought they did a good job of easing you into the idea that this thing wasn't killable. The tension and atmosphere they built in that sequence was just amazing. I want CDPR to make a whole game like that.
Does loot scale really hard as you level up? I'm level 40-something with PL and I'm getting a ton of tier 4/5/5+ gear from regular drops and boxes. I have like 20 5/5+ weapons, and I'm finding things like tier 5+ steel pipes laying around pretty regularly. It wasn't this way at lower levels, and it's definitely different from pre-2.0, where basically nothing was legendary.
