I'm interested in fast image generation. I can sacrifice some quality, but not generation speed. My goal is to generate dozens of ~500px sized images per second on a 16GB consumer GPU. Also, the pipeline should ideally be programmatic and not a GUI, as I'm looking to build a server. What would be my best approach?

I tried out Z-Image on diffusers as it seems like the latest model, but the generation speed was not high enough for me (~4s per 512px image). I am considering a more tried-and-true model like SDXL + DMD2 on diffusers, but I'd love to get some ideas. Thanks.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to implement destination-driven codegen (DDCG), but I'm having a hard time reconciling it with the register allocation problem. All the related material I've seen assumes a stack machine.

How would I apply DDCG to output actual machine code? I'm currently maintaining a virtual stack of registers (with physical stack spilling) during compilation. I use this virtual stack as the stack for the destination for DDCG. Is there any better method without resorting to full-blown register allocation?

Or am I simply misunderstanding the point of DDCG?

First time attending CES. Just checked into my hotel in Vegas after a long flight, so a bit tired. Is the NVIDIA keynote (or any keynote, for that matter) worth attending in person? Does visiting offer anything over livestreaming? Thanks.

I currently own a DSPTCH Daypack in Dyneema, and over the years the fabric has wrinkled pretty severely. Some would call it weathering, I would call it a flaw of the material as it's meant to be used for sailcloths. It's very durable in the sense of tensile strength, but it wrinkles too easily. My nylon and VX42 items have held up better.

I'm interested in purchasing a CPL24, and I'm wondering what the Ecopak EPX400 fabric is like. Is it closer to Dyneema, X-Pac, or regular nylon? Does it have develop significant wrinkling like Dyneema? Thanks.

I created jaxsplat which provides CUDA-accelerated 3D Gaussian Splatting for JAX. The original INRIA code and gsplat's implementation contain dynamically shaped arrays unsuitable for usage with JAX. Instead, I modified gsplat's CUDA implementation to expose custom XLA CUDA calls while not leaking any dynamic shapes into JAX-side code.

Take a look if you're interested in exploring 3D Gaussian Splatting with JAX:

Hello, I'm looking for alternative typefaces to GT America. I enjoy the modern take on the grotesque/gothic style that GT America gives, but I'd like to avoid Grilli Type's licensing model if I can.

Does anyone know of any decent alternatives? I'm fine with paid fonts. Thanks.

I currently run an IOTV (+ 7 mags, IFAK, and pouches). I’m looking to buy something with better weight distribution and comfort.

Plate carriers obviously have better comfort and weight distribution over the IOTV. I’m a bit concerned with soft armor for this option though. I have ESAPI Rev G plates and IOTV soft armor, but buying ESAPI cut soft armor backing is not an option for me.

Alternatively, I could buy a belt to use with my IOTV and move my IFAK and a couple of my mags down to my hips. I’m not sure how much this would help with weight distribution when my IOTV and the rest of my mags are so heavy.

I don’t use a pistol, and I’ll always need some sort of body armor for the near future

I’m in the market for a general hard shell, and Norrona caught my eye. I’ll be layering it over fleece and down/synthetic insulation for the winter (around -10C). I hope to use it to stay dry from the snow on snowy days and also just cut wind in general. I also hope to get some use out of it as a standalone layer for inclement days in other seasons too.

I don’t ski or climb, but I do walk outdoors a lot with a pack and hike occasionally. I’m currently looking at the Lofoten and Falketind. Would there be any point in paying extra for a jacket in Gore-Tex Pro? Also, how bad would a ski/snowboard jacket like the Lofoten be for general winter usage or for other seasons?

Font licensing is getting extremely frustrating, with foundries selling separate licenses for every use case and user count imaginable, tracking webfont usage, upselling, etc. I'm looking for foundries that have a more friendly licensing model. Fonts being expensive due to the amount of effort required to create them is one thing, predatory pricing is another.

I've been using Suisse by Swiss Typefaces a lot because of the sane licensing: pricing by workstation count with print, websites, mobile apps, electronic publications, and broadcasting included by default. Are there any other foundries doing something similar?

I'm having a hard time deciding between the Gamma LT and SL Hoodies, would love some input from someone who has had both.

I'm looking for a versatile all-around softshell. I'm planning on just wearing it in the spring/fall, as well as on cooler summer nights and maybe sometimes over a fleece in early winter. I'll wear it both while hiking and casually around the city. Primarily I'm looking to wear it around 30F~70F temps.

The LT's thicker build does sound better as I own a few Patagonia Houdinis which are already paper thin, but I'm not sure how different the materials are between the Gamma LT/SL and the Houdini. Meanwhile, the SL's pattern looks a bit more practical on casual wear than th
