There are really only two places you can be expected to run faster than ~5 minute miles safely on a paved flat surface: a race course and the track. Yet seemingly every time I go run sprints it just seems like a playground. I’m just dreading running into some old person stretching in the inside lane or (god forbid) bowling over some loose kid. I’ve simulated a conversation with these people in my head every time and there’s no way not to come off as a complete ass asking someone to clear the track but I also just don't understand how they don’t notice how they’re in the way. I can't believe the number of devs that after all the years of pandemic, all the zoom calls, still do not own a decent pair of headphones with a microphone. Great developers, managers, product people, that I work with every day for years still apologizing for their dogs going crazy at the mailmen like it's 2021 or something. Still hearing terrible echoes from my own voice as it comes out of their laptop speakers and back into the laptop microphones agh!

Am I wrong here? First thing I did when meetings went online was buy a nice pair of headphones I can wear all day that have a great microphone. The company I work for provided some options and likely still does. I just don’t get it. End rant
